Ok. I was wondering… If you had a stallion that didn’t produce super good babies and a mare that didnt produce super good babies, would it ever turn out that the bloodlines themselves were such a good cross that it produced something nice, like an SW? I noticed that there are studs that consistently produce nice horses, but I was wondering if it went deeper than that. If so, then what bloodlines cross really well? I’m just curious, this question came to me a couple of days ago. I’m just now starting to put thought into breeding.
That depends on the horses involved.
Each breeding involves:
- the parents (obviously)
- the grandparents (only if they have a high 2nd-generation BPF, though)
- inbred horses
If the horses aren’t great, but have nice horses in their pedigrees who have strong genetic influence, then you can still end up with a nice foal.
Also, every single breeding has a chance for:
- superstar baby
- above average baby
- average baby
- below average baby
- superdud baby
…regardless of the horses being bred. The chances for superstar are higher for higher quality horses being bred, and likewise with superdud with lower quality horses being bred, but every single breeding could potentially produce the best horse in the game, if you get lucky.
