Left-Handedness

Ok, a friend of mine is taking a pyschology class in school and she said that she learned that 79/80 left handed people (not sure if that number is exactly right?) were actually a twin at one point (again, not sure if this means one got absorbed or what…?). I tried looking it up, but I didnt get a lot of helpful information, just a lot about “womb twin survivor” pyschological problems (which is why i guess she learned about this)… I am just curious because i am left handed, does anyone know if this is true? Or if they have any info about this?

oh, I searched and found that 90-93% of the adult population is right handed, and that males are more likely to be left handed. Hehe Just makes me feel special

I’m left handed, too.  Never heard that and I did take AP Psych in high school.  I do know we have a shorter life expectancy by 7 to 8 years.

Hmm, what do you make of this -

Write right handed
throw left handed
kick left footed
golf right handed
cricket right handed
tennis left handed

;D

Andy I think your you’re just ambidextrous in a way  Which makes you special

I don’t know about the twinning/left handedness thing but there are a lot of lefty’s and a lot of twins in my family but oddly the twins produced lefties (for example my mom is a twin and my sister and i are both lefties and my aunt is a lefty and her dad is a twin)

I know that left-handedness statistically occurs more often in twins (identical and fraternal), but I’ve never heard anything that says being a lefty means that you most likely were a twin. That would be insanely hard to study.

And I’m a psych major.
