Sadly our retired stud Lasting Spirit was euthanised today due to the infirmities of old age. He was 19 and had been living out his retirement at the farm for the last few years. Reaching National Champion status on the track, Spirit excelled as a jumper, winning 11 stakes races and setting four speed records. As a sire he attained silver status in the shed and currently is silver ranked as a broodmare sire. He has a very small final crop of 5 2yo to race this year.
Two of his sons are at stud with Spirit In The Sky joining Last For More in the stallion ranks this year. Interestingly they both excelled on the dirt, a surface on which Spirit himself never raced.
Sorry to hear about his passing. I have not been privileged to own one of his foals but have bred to his sons. I hope you get to race his foals and have grand-babies for you.
I’m so sorry to hear that - it’s always hard to lose a stallion especially as they are not easy to acquire/qualify. How fortunate that he has sons to carry on his line, though.
So sorry to hear about Lasting Spirit. We own Spirit in the Sky and also owned Last For More during his racing career before selling him after he had had four years in the breeding sheds.
May Lasting Spirit’s legacy live on through these two sons and many more of his offspring.
