It was bound to happen eventually, but we got off to a sad start to our foaling season. Thie year’s first filly, by Highland Wizard, was Wrapped Around’s first foal. The delivery was a hard one, and unfortunately the foal could not overcome the complications. Wrapped Around, though understandably exhausted by the ordeal, is expected to make a full recovery. We will give her plenty of TLC and hope for the best next year.
Sorry to hear about the foal. If you’d like to send her back for a retry, it’s obviously free since Wiz has LFG.
Thanks. I’d love to try again with him.
Oh geeze. I’m so sorry to hear that. Better luck next time.
Sorry to hear that it was the first foal of the season and the mare’s first!
I am so sorry to hear of your loss…I hope it works out better for the rest of the season!
Sounds good, just let me know what date you’d like.
Augh, not again…
Brazen Success has foaled successfully before, so we weren’t worried about her. Unfortunately, when we checked on her this morning, she was standing over the body of her stillborn foal. It’s really a shame, too, as the filly was by Irish River, and would have been a very striking beauty like her mother.
Poor Bonnie seems really confused, like she doesn’t know what to do with herself now. We are confident that she will recover, however, and hope that fortune will be kinder to her next season.
I’m sorry about your foals Nan. Losing one’s bad enough. :S
Jeez, the random number gods don’t like your barn, Nan. Good luck with Bonnie’s 2015 foal.
Thank God, we finally had a good old normal foaling this morning!
Sugarbird (My Lucky Day x Beautiful Flight)
Shug is a brown colt that sticks at 9.2h. He’s named after a type of bird that lives in South Africa…they’re rather pretty actually. His mom is doing just fine, as well. Flight’s first foal, Flight Risk, will hit the track this year.
We’ll be sending Beautiful Flight to Street Wise this year.
Love the name! He sure is a cutie!
