Wow what an experience and I got 3 credit hours for doing it. The course involved us going down to Kentucky and visiting a lot of different barns and stud farms. Some of the highlights included:
- Visiting the Kentucky Horse Park where we got to see Jon Henry and Cigar.
- We stopped by Old Friends retirement home and got to pet the horse who played Seabiscuit in all the running scenes for the movie.
- Also stopped by Claiborne Farms and they brought out a few of their studs for us including Kentucky Derby winner Manarchos (who we got to pet! AH!), Seeking The Gold (who’s stud fee is $125,000!), and Pulpit (His Stud fee is at $80,000).
- Darley Stud Farms was amazing also. There they brought out Holy Bull who was Giacamos (Last years Kentucky Derby winner), Quiet American (Real Quiet’s Sire), and Elusive Quality (Smarty Jone’s Sire)!
-We also went to Churchhill Downs where the Triple Crown Trophy is on display and had a Mint Julep while some of the races ran.
My God Kentucky is awesome and if you guys ever go some of these places are a must to go and see. I am in pure amazement.
