As part of the bigger plan to downsize my herd to a lower-maintenance level, I’m making some incredibly hard cuts all around. However, my broodies are especially close to my heart. Many of them are homebreds themselves, and I feel like I’ve already made several (smaller) culls in each previous year. That means these are the cream of the crop in my book, so letting any go is hard enough. I’ve somehow convinced myself to let go of a whopping 40 mares.

Most are sold open for 2026 with no reserve.
Mares in foal will have a reserve of the stud fee only.
I will try to reevaluate any overdue/soon due mares right before the auction, and if the foal drops, I may change them to be sold open/drop their reserve to $0. Any that begin the auction still marked as coming with the foal will be sold together, though, regardless of whether the foal drops before sale is final.
