ON THE TRACK, Bear Witness won several stakes races from age 3 to 5 and setting track records at age 3.  Some of his wins include $3m Cox Plate (G1), the Manhattan Handicap (G1) - in which he beat out stablemate Fight The Twilight, and the Belmont Breeders’ Cup (G2).  He tackled a wide range of distances from sprint to endurance, though he did seem to prefer turf.

What are your plans for [color=blue]Franco Classico? Are you going to Retire him to stud or keep him in training for this year? If you are going to keep him in training, would you be interested in Leasing him to me for the year, otherwise, if you are going to Retire him to Stud, I have a couple of mares I would like to send to him.

I’m afraid to give up on him just yet, but I clearly didn’t have as much time as I’d hoped last year…  I was going to contact you.  If you are interested in doing a free lease on him, then I would be totally grateful!  Also, since you helped out so much with my horses the previous year, I was going to give you first dibs on these boys in case you needed/wanted any spots.  It’s the least I can do after all you’ve done for me!

Now that my baby is 9 months old and toddler is 2, they’re getting slightly less needy (able to play together and give me a free minute or two), so I’m hoping I will gradually up my time on FF.  In the mean time, I’ve been trying to downsize the herd, streamline my processes, and try to get back on track.  But Franco is awfully special, so I’d hate for his career to take any more of a hit due to my lack of time.  I’m not quite ready to give up on him in case he’s got more to show on the track - but if he returns to the track with no signs of his former spark, he may yet retire this spring…  I’m hopeful that he’s got more in store, though.  I’ve gone ahead and set up the free lease to you for now!  All of my horses were shipped home to rest up while I sorted through breeding stuff, so hopefully he’ll be raring to go soon.

As far as the breedings, I had a couple of mares lined up to send to Franco if he went to stud, so I’ll decide which others of your boys to send them to instead (also may send a couple of the mares I had lined up to go to Tottenham Hotspur too).

Everyone should be up to speed now.  I’ve also decided to try something different and have set all my boys to “no stallion owner approval needed” for the rest of their open bookings.  More boys + less mares at Ivy Creek = lots more public bookings.  I will continue to take bookings through here, otherwise the rest will be first come, first served.
