Injury Question

Worthy Valentine Bowed a tendon :frowning: . Not knowing much about horses I was wondering about how long should this take to heal?

One of my horses bowed a tendon and then a month later he won a stakes race… :?

I don’t know - apparently two months as a general rule in Final Furlong I think.

I had a horse bow a tendon… I rested him 30 days & raced him with wraps… he place 5th in a stakes… but I figured with a month of no training… I wasn’t disapointed…

I won’t specify a time frame, but a month is too short. Just FYI.

I asked around when two of my 3yo’s got bowed tendons, and it was reccomended that I rest for at least 2 months, but 3 certainly wouldnt hurt. I had one bow in Jan and he’s not going to run till my birthday

I’ve been giving 3 months off, but bowes have only happened to my best stakes horses so I didn’t want to take any chances and risk their career soundness. I’d go with at least 2 months.

Thanks for the info everyone. I was thinking 3 months at least. Good info thanks again

A vet check page/option is in the works (and mostly finished) though it probably won’t debut until the new racing code, since it took me about a month to bother doing anymore work on it the last time .

flourishes pom-poms Yay almost done code!!!

Ok, back to be productive. Yargh.
