Inactive Stables

I noticed that there is a number of stables that have been inactive for 2 years or more. The following six are most notable due to how big they were/are. Darkwood, Desert Wind, Gants, Ivy Creek, Kismet, and Tall Oaks Estate.
There is a large number of unraced 2 year olds plus yearlings and weanlings. Plus hundred of other racehorses that could be running for other stables.
Also hundreds of unbred broodmares plus 10 Stallions. Some of these studs have restrictions placed on their use and owners are uncontactable to have conditions changed.
Is there any possibility on getting access by way of sales or auctions on horses sitting in inactive stables?

I’d definitely like to see studs from inactive stables move to FF management and be available for everyone to access.

I’d love to see an inactive stables auction. I’d be even more excited for that than an FF auction. So many horses just sitting pretty while someone in the past actively raced them or bred them just seems like such a waste. At least FF horses get thrown in a race every once in a while.

On that note, y’all can buy any horse you want from me. I basically stopped playing with all the random site downtime and the fact my stable got too big. So pick any you want, pay what you want. Just PM me cause I’ll forget to check this thread again.

PM sent

On that note it seems @Shanthi has fixed the down time.

Since then it’s been just about perfect, I can think of only 1 time I couldn’t log on but it was back within the hour.

It’s worth coming back to if you want to try.

I’d love to see some of those studs either auctioned or put under the FF banner.

A number of times last year I booked studs that needed approval, not realizing the stables were inactive.

I’d sent ponies to stables only to have them wandering at the front gate, unable to get in :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :joy:

I think the server is scheduled to reboot as a way of preventing the downtime. In other words, if it is down (knock on wood) then it should come back up on its own within less than a day (not sure what the exact schedule is).

I think Shanthi said something about 6hrs which means it’s pretty much back up by the time you’d come back to check.

Another issue with Stallions owned by inactive stables. I want to send a mare that requires owner approval. Problem with that is the owner hasn’t logged in for over 18 months. I believe if a breeding is not approved in 7 days, it should become automatic.

And on the subject of stallion approval. To the owners who use this, I am curious as to why you want approval? I have never been knocked back in the past. So, to me i dont understand why. I have the attitude that if you want to send a mare to one of my boys, happy days . Send them in

I use it because it helps me to keep track of which slots each of our stallions still have available. Some owners would always post messages asking for specific dates to a particular stallion for a particular mare but when I would go to the stallion, I’d find somebody else had bred one of their mares in that slot.

I cheek my messages constantly throughout the day and am usually pretty prompt at responding to all messages. In addition, the only time I’m likely to reject a booking is if someone requests a slot that is no longer available.

I also like to keep track of bookings. It looks like it MIGHT be fixed, but the last two years there was a bug where slots would show as available because a mare hadn’t been bred but was, in fact, booked in that slot. So I had my own and other people’s mares booted out of their slots. Having studs be approval only helped me keep that under control.

I am personally VERY opposed to having a breeding request automatically approved after x time. What if I’m busy that week? Or out of town? Or it’s just that initial slew of breeding requests in January and I need to wade through requests while still getting my own mares sorted? If you’re still pending after a few weeks, just move on to another stallion.

I second what Shelbie said. If a mare stays pending for too long I just cancel the book and pick a different stud. I actually did that a few days ago for a number of mares. The only exception is FF studs, their books don’t open until February so if a mare delivers in Jan I will wait for approval.

Yeah I just canceled and moved on last year once I realised the stable was inactive.

It is frustrating seeing some good horses go to waste.
