I was looking around for explanation of this but I’m still confused… so how do I read these numbers in the top right table of the race form - like this:
Fast/Good 17-0-5-3-1 $43,200 130
(this is Worth A Mint in tomorrow’s race #1)
Does it mean that the horse entered 17 races on fast/good tracks and then… came fifth, third and first? Or that he was third five times and second three times and once was first?
thanks in advance for the answer
It’s the race record just for fast/good tracks.
So Worth A Mint has a lifetime record of 18-0-5-4-1 $45,700:
18 starts
0 wins
5 places (2nd)
4 shows (3rd)
1 fourth
$45,700 in earnings
On just tracks rated fast or good: 17-0-5-3-1 $43,200
17 starts
0 wins
5 places
3 shows
1 fourth
$43,200 in earnings
It’s your horse’s racing record on that type of surface.
Seventeen is the total amount of times your horse has run on a Fast/Good track and then the numbers after that are the placings. You read it from left to right. Your horse was never in first on that surface(0), was second five times(5), third three times(3), and fourth one time(1). After that is how much money your horse earned on that surface and then the last number (130) is the highest SF your horse ever achieved, again on that particular surface.
Hope this helps you out.
Edit: Shanthi beat me to it.
Thanks a lot! Now I understand
