Jockeys need time to get to know the horse. If it’s the first time they’ve ridden the horse, chances are they have no clue what he’s like, really. So take any jockey comments with a grain of salt (i.e. assume they’re wrong) unless the jock has ridden that horse several times, and/or says something about how well he knows the horse (i.e. We know each other very well).
Also, obviously if you use 2 different jockeys, they might give you 2 completely different answers (depending on how good a jock they are and how well they know the horse.)
Thanks. I feel like I’m always asking the same question.
Sorry, . I’ll try harder to remember this time. I’ve used Berry the past eight times, but I haven’t gotten any ‘We know each other very well’ comments, so… I’ll just try racing him from the back this time, see what happens.
Generally, I use the “Let the jockey decide” option for where to race.
It is better to specify? Or is the specific options better for, in example, you couldn’t get the normal jockey for race day and you have to tell the different jock what to do 'cause they don’t know your horse?
Hrm… I find that, for me, it’s better if I DON’T specify, so I say “Let the Jockey decide” myself, for most (if not all) of my horses. Even though this is a game, and not (obviously) exactly like real life, I go with the idea that no race is exactly the same as another, and so the different situations may call for different actions. If your jockey ends up getting to know your horse really well, it also helps them too, because your thoughts about what your horse needs may not always go with what the jockey may know that your horse needs (and I believe, as they are the ones riding the horses, they know their “track habits” more than their owners sometimes)… If that makes any sense at all… Haha.
