First arrival of the new year arrived safely today

ICh V Is For Victory ex GCh Salem (Wayfaring Minstrel(S))
8.3hh Brown colt
1st Foal. Bred by Railbird Racing. Dam is MSW, MSP on dirt (Grade 1) and a daughter of the Gold ranked Timeless Wiccan. Dad’s first crop foals are yearlings. Excited to see how he does on the track. Salem will visit High Chances next.
The Witchfinder General was the title that the Englishman Matthew Hopkins gave to himself in the 1600s. He conducted several witch hunts in the Eastern counties of England (using some very dubious methods of identifying women as witches). Some of his methods were used in the Salem Witch Trials in the 1690s.
Had a suprise this morning to find we had two new arrivals today, one mare foaling a bit late and the other over a week early. Thankfully, all four are doing well and today we get to introduce our first ever homebred filliesÂ
8.3h Bay filly with snip. The spitting image of mum. First foal for a MW, MP mare. Tryst of Fate only has 5 foals to race so far, four of which are winners with several unraced youngsters on the ground. Hoping this filly can show a bit of talent. I couldn’t think of a suitable name from her parents so went back to the granddam (Freedom’s Run) and used a line from the song Feelin Good. Auspicious visits Mr Prospective.
8.3h Black filly. Third living foal. Gilded Journey has the dubious honour of producing our first ever homebred, sadly stillborn so very relieved she’s foaled safely this time round. A winer of a maiden and multiple placed in a light career she has one runner to her name so far (MW at 2, W at 3) with an unraced 3yo under FF management. DC had a successful first season last year and we’re hoping this little one has some turf talent. Name comes from the novel The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (or Michael Crichton’s Jurrasic Park sequel - take your pick ). Gilded Journey visits Demand The Best.
Sadly, Coco Diablo foaled a stillborn colt by What’s Debatable this morning. Fortunately the mare is fine and she’ll be given a few weeks to recover before visiting Dark Continent.
Well, we have another new arrival but not from the mare I was expecting. Arriving two weeks early we’re happy to introduce

Long Live The King x Blackberry (created)
9.1h Dark Bay with some white.
Homebred. First foal of MW dam. Kindly leased from Stormy Island, mum had three career starts, didn’t hit the track until she was five and won them all. Only tried on turf and over fences, it’ll be interesting to see how her first born does.
Another one to report. This one arrived 25 days late, fortunately mum and baby are both fine.

9.2h Bay Colt with a star.
Third foal (and colt) for his MW, MP dam (kindly leased from Stormy Island). His 2yo half-brother (by Highland Magic) should debut this year. He’s from his sire’s first crop. Very surprised the name wasn’t already taken.
