Fitness Levels in Relation to Workout/Racing

This might be a silly question, but I’m just wondering is it possible for a horse to lose fitness after being worked? Ive noticed alot lately that my horses will be at A/A for fitness/Energy prior to being worked but after they will be C/C , B/C, A/C however after update it goes back to A/A. I’ve also noticed that after the last couple race days that some of my horses who were A/A prior to racing are now showing a F/B and F/C, D/C, D/B. I’m kind of a bit baffled with this. I don’t typically over work my horses (maybe 4 times a week if that) and don’t over race them either. Usually 1 race every 3/4 weeks depending on race availability and energy/fitness levels.

I imagined that stable staff come in the morning and see my horses all fresh and interested, so they rate them high, and then they take them to the track and see how fat and slow they really are, and then they’re less optimistic about their fitness level after the workout, than before

That is an entertaining way to look at it. I think I’ll adopt that interpretation. Lol. XD But yes, fitness does change sometimes before and after workouts. I believe I remember Shanthi saying something about how the fitness level is an estimate based on what the jockeys “see” in the horse at the moment you load the page. Either way, these fluctuations have happened with my horses off and on ever since I started playing the game over a decade ago.

Thank you for the input, I was just wondering because I haven’t seen this until the beginning of January (this year). The fitness levels have always been reasonably, as in if a horse was off for an extended period of time then fitness would be diminished…but for horses that have been in training and racing consistently that they would suddenly drop to a C level fitness after a workout or a race seems weird to me. Just hoping they arent wonky after the server meltdown at Christmas.

I have to admit that I don’t pay a lot of attention to Fitness levels. I’ve had horses race with ‘A’ Energy and ‘A’ Fitness and bomb and have had horses race with ‘F’ Fitness after a long layoff and win convincingly.

I do pay a lot of attention to Energy levels and will not enter a horse in a race if it had a ‘D’ or ‘F’ Energy.

Yeah I basically only enter when horses are A/A or A/B, and don’t pay much attention to energy and fitness vs. workouts. Mostly because I now have 300+ racehorses.
