I was just going through some of the FF owned broodmares and was noticing that quite a few are very Very VERY nice. My reason for bringing this up includes stallion owners who may want to “bid” to have one of their stallions bred to one or some of these mares. I know I would like to give a few of my breedings to some of these mares or even pay to have the slot for marketing and quality purposes. Does this seem outragous?
I also noticed that just of the Platinum and Gold ranked broodmares owned by FF, about 60% + aren’t bred for next year. Was this intentional or just a time restraint?
They’ll be bred, even if it means breeding them in 2013. Stallion owners will not be able to bid to have FF owned bred mares sent to them… a) this isn’t fair to members with less money b) I don’t put that much thought into breeding FF horses. (I really should just write a script to auto-breed them.)
I noticed that a couple of then are leased out. How do we do that/can we?
No. They are leased because they were being leased when the owner left the game. Once the leases end, the horses will return to FF.
I see Is there a chance a stallion could be bred if we revert breedings to FF?
From what I’ve seen in the past, Holly, Shanthi tends to breed FF mares to FF studs. Therefore, FF is not spending any money on studfees, transit, etc. Very simple, very straight-forward. FF-studs need some loving too!
In short, knowing how Shanthi runs the game, I’d stop lobbying for these mares’ breeding rights and start hoping they come up for sale at next year’s select auction.
Just my opinion. Shanthi’s free to whump me if I’m off base, though. (You are, too )
Some people do set aside breedings to FF (for $0, as Cat said, there’s no way FF will pay you to breed mares.) However, I always breed to FF-owned stallions if one is available (unless it’s the mare’s sire/brother/something else icky). I think last year 3 or 4 stables set aside about 20 breedings for FF to use, and I ended up using maybe 1 or 2 of them, if that.
Cat,
Yes, charging FF for a breeding was never a motive nor an option in my eyes. I was just peeping around at the question of, if we reverted breedings (For Free) to FF, if there would be a “chance” at them being used since the “bidding” idea wasn’t fair. Sorry I wasn’t more clear.
Shanthi,
I see. and thank you. I was just talking and not badgering.
Ah, my mistake, Holly. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
I’ve actually just finished a script that will auto-breed mares. Due to time constraints, I limited mares to FF owned studs, but technically speaking, the studs aren’t available enough for the mares. (FF owns 16 studs…to be 21 in 2013…and 883 mares, so even if all 21 used all 30 spots, there would be over 250 spots needed.)
[I also did not do any checking for date availability, so you may notice FF studs having, say, 10 March babies.]
So, for 2013 and onward, I will likely set up the ability for stables to reserve breedings to FF studs (for $0) if there are extra spots you aren’t using. These will be used on a random basis by the script, so there’s a chance they won’t be used at all, nor is there a chance that they will be used by a mare you prefer.
(In order to make this fair, the reservations would have to be for $0, and without any specific mare selection, so that we don’t have 15 stallions reserving spots for 1 mare and then end up 14 spots short. Also, it’s a bit unfair if you decide only to breed to a Platinum mare.)
So, in short, this will give you the chance to have your stud bred to more mares, if he has room, but there’s no guarantee that he will be bred, or to what quality a mare.
Once this is setup more, I’ll post more details in the Announcements thread.
That is superbly awesome! I love the idea and use of the script. Very cool.
Cat,
It’s -k-, internet talk is all so…how should I say this…speculative?
