If your horse can be shipped (e.g. they’re not in transit, they’re not being boarded, they’re not entered to race), you will see Ship Horse on their page. You can select a destination & road/air as usual, but you can also select a shipment date up to 60 days in the future.
Future shipments can be cancelled before they happen.
I have not tested this, but you should be able to pre-schedule racehorses to ship home. Racehorse shipments will be checked twice on race days - once at midnight to ship any horses not entered to race, and once when races are run. So you should be able to schedule a shipment for the race day to wherever, and it will happen after the horse has raced. Right now that’s a multi-step process because race entries aren’t in the new app yet, but I will be adding this as an option when you enter a race in the new app.
The addition of scheduling shipments is amazing! Looking forward to experimenting with that and sending horses to the farm after races and scheduling when their rest should end. It happens way too often for me that a horse has an extended rest period because I forget to move them back to track haha.
Is there a plan to also bring the overall shipping page with all your horses listed back or will shipping always happen from the horse’s page from now on?
I can re-create the overall page if people need it, but my plan was to add shipping buttons to the race results page, as presumably that’s most of the time when people want to ship their racehorses. And broodmares don’t get shipped that often.
The addition of shipping buttons to race results sounds handy! I personally also use the overall page for mass shipping when the racing period at a track has ended and I want to move the horses around to either another track or get farm rest otherwise there’s a bunch of horses training that won’t get a suitable race in months. Never use it for broodmares indeed. I think using the training summary + horse pages for this would also work, though.
Looks like the new app doesn’t approve of shipping 2yos. Regardless of where I try to ship a 2yo to, I get a “500 - Internal Server Error.” I don’t have the same issue shipping 3yo+.
