Diamond Dale--Horse for Sale/Lease

Here at Diamond Dale, we have our first horse being offered for sale to new members just starting out.

Neon Cat
He is one of the horses given to me when I started with Final Furlong and a bit of a frustration.  In 3 starts, he’s been a disappointment and, with a handful of talented young horses, I feel maybe I should give another newbie the chance to figure this boy out.

He has had 3 career starts, all at the age of 4.
First race was a 6 furlong Maiden race on the dirt for a purse of $10,000 at Arlington.  From what I can see from his stats, he never even tried in this race.  Started last and stayed last in the field. Only equipment he wore was wraps on his legs.

Next race was an 11 furlong turf allowance for 4 year old and up at Woodbine, at the $45,000 level.  Don’t know why exactly I jumped him up a purse level when I should have kept him at the $10,000 level to see if he could handle that but I did.  Didn’t matter- he again never threw an effort out.  In this one, based on jockey’s comments, I tried to see if blinkers and a F8 bridle would help get him to improve.

His most recent race was 9 furlong turf allowance at Woodbine.  I figured, from spooking episodes during earlier training sessions, to try a shadow roll plus the blinkers, a F8 bridle and wraps.  Normally don’t like to rely on too many pieces of equipment to get a horse to run but was willing to try with him.  Still nothing.  He stayed last the whole time.

Anyways, here’s to you newbies.  I would try the steeplechase aspect with him if I was interested in that but I only want to train flat runners.

Asking price is $10,000

We also have 3 horses that are up for leases of varying length to all members.  I would like to be able to focus on my young colts that are coming 3 yrs old in Jan, so am willing to let someone else work with my other horses. 1 is a 2009 Steeplechasing gelding, 2nd horse offered is a 2010 filly, and the last offered is a gelding foaled in 2010. Below is a link to each of their pages as well where I would like to see them headed, thought is fully up to the person that leases them.  Leases are for racing only and I am not looking to sell the horses after the leases.  If you want to continue leasing them, let me know before the lease is up.

1–At the Bada Bing
3 yr old gelding that I had claimed recently.  11 career starts, so he’s taking a month long break now (been at my farm since December 4th) but will be ready to go by early January and onward.  He is a steeplechaser and seems to love long distance- 1 win came in a 14 furlong allowance at Arlington and he finished 6th of 9 in his most recent start for me at a distance of 13.5 furlongs.  With a bank roll already of over $33,000, he will be at his peak in 2013 for whatever you decide to throw at him.
His lease will run from January 4th 2013 until June 4th 2013–$9500 for the 6 months.

2–F Sharp
2 yr old filly that I purchased recently.  My real reason for purchasing the filly is so that she can be my first broodmare, so her lease will be for the full 2013 season.  She came to me with 11 starts already and the best she has done is a 4th, so this little girl has a blank slate in a way as to which way she may go.  Haven’t raced her yet myself, so I wouldn’t even know what to think of which direction she would go.
Her lease will run from January 4th 2013 to January 4th 2014–$20,000 for the full year

3–Tricky Tourist
2 yr old gelding that I claimed recently.  My plan with him (as well as my colts) was to ship him to Gulfstream in the new year to see how he would fare out there.  But with my new baby on the way and the fact that I am running on a tight budget, I figured that I would let someone else figure this boy out.  He’s actually not done too bad as a baby racer- his most recent start resulted in an impressive 2nd place in a 8.5 furlong allowance at Woodbine.  Looking at his past races, out of the other 9 starts (that’s not including the start I just mentioned), there has been 3 4th place finishes.  It seems that he likes anything around mile, though it would be nice to see how he does at the classic distances.  He also seems to have a fondness for the turf, as his best performance came on the Woodbine turf.  Quite an oppurtunity as he is young and will be starting the new year rested and ready to go.  His lease will be for 6 months.
His lease will run from January 4th 2013 to June 2013–$15,000 for the 6 months
