Mr. Prospective was a fairly precocious racehorse, winning his first stakes on turf as a 2yo. His 3yo season was his best, seeing him set two speed records on dirt. He took 6 stakes events on dirt and turf, from 7 furlongs to 12 including the Queensland Derby and Dwyer Stakes, placing in eight others. At age 4, he was switched to steeplechasing, where he won or placed regularly at Allowance level. After that, he was very lightly raced until we purchased him as a 6yo. His first foals started racing in 2017, and he boasts six stakes winners from his first two crops, including GCh. Early Spring (winner of this year’s BC Distaff) and Ch.-ranked Unsung Hero, Copycat, Starfleet Command, and Smoke Alarm. His win percentage for starters is 74%.

His name is based on the Greek legend of having to pay the ferryman for passage to the underworld. He started winning early on at age 2, and continued his success at age 3, going on to win, place, or show in 18 stakes races. He started to trail off as a 4yo, likely due to my impatience with trying to get him to win, but he still finished on the board in a respectable 9 of 14 races. His fee will likely be set at a bare minimum, so maybe he’ll garner some interest from the bargain hunters out there!
