[color=red]Orivesi - 7.1h dark bay filly by NCh. Al Mundhir, out of GCh. Yeman (A.P. Indy). Her older sister was named after a character from The Moomins, so this girl is named after a town in Finland.
[color=blue]Phyfe - 9.1h dark bay colt with the star, by WCh. Express Yourself, out of WCh. Dreamboat (Planet Hollywood). Sire is currently Gold ranked. I bought the mare from Fox Run last year and it’s her first foal at Clicker Lab. Named after Henry Phyfe from “The Double Life of Henry Phyfe (1966)”, starring Fred Clark, who was also cast in “Dreamboat”, a movie after which the dam is named (I guess).
[color=blue]Rainfall Wraith - 9.2h handsome black colt by NCh. Crafty Magic, out of Greylin (FFCh. Foolhardy). I bought his dam specifically to breed for long distance; I’m almost sure that her dam was a S/P Reine, but apparently not anymore. This colt has an older half brother who is inbred to Foolish Question, I/C Reine. Anyway, my plan was to retire Greylin this year so we’ll see if her two boys will continue the line.
I wanted the name to be related to colt’s granddam River of Dreams, as it also connects with this year’s Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, who won on such a wet track that probably spooked my favourite, Thunder Snow.
[color=red]Shenanigan - 9.2h flea-bitten grey filly by ICh. Belanso, out of GCh. Private Party (NCh. Sneak Peek). I raced the dam and bred her first two foals, who didn’t do much on the track (but the dam didn’t start racing before she was 4yo, so maybe that’s why), so I sold her to The Grey Stable and then bought her back from their auction, in foal to Belanso. And now she gave us her first filly! Meanwhile, her oldest colt started to show some talent after being gelded and switched to steeplechase, so maybe there is hope for her other foals.
GCh. Private Party will be bred to NCh. Al Mundhir.
I feel guilty when I create a foal as there are so many horses in the game… but I also can’t resist and it’s nice to have some outcross possibilities when they run well. This one was created weeks ago but she decided to show up just now.
[color=red]Tangerine - 8.3h flea-bitten grey filly with a bald face and four stockings. I hope she’ll become a champion and produce some pretty foals!
[color=blue]Urban Vegan - 9.0h grey colt by ICh. Unabridged, out of Ch. All Too Divine. I’m not a vegan myself (and not even vegetarian), but I rarely eat meat. For some reason a vision of everyone going vegan makes me sad, thinking that all farm animals would disappear
Ch. All Too Divine will be bred to NCh. Al Mundhir, for a full sibling of her yearling colt.
We have one half-born filly I’m not sure if she exists… as her dam appears in foal again and the filly doesn’t show on my weanlings list. But she does show as her dam’s most recent foal and I was able to name her, so I hope that she’s really there.
[color=red]Vanished Valentina - 8.0h liver chestnut filly by Invasor, out of Ch. Shy Shy. Born yesterday. Or at least she should be dam is/was due June 1st.
Ch. Shy Shy will be bred to ICh. Unabridged as soon as she’s ready
[color=blue]Windsprite - 8.2h brown colt by NCh. Dark Demand, out of Ch. Mauiluv (Black Gold). Windsprite (or Silken Windsprite until recently) is my favourite breed of dog, which I hope to own one day (if only I could afford). It’s like a whippet but with longer hair. Windsprites were lucky enough not to be “officially recognized” by FCI, which allowed them to have open studbooks - and cross with whippets - but now European countries are closing their studbooks one by one, which makes me angry because it means that the breed will run into big trouble. But at the moment it’s still one of the healthiest breeds; and will probably remain relatively healthy for two or three generations more (or forever if they open the studbooks and educate the breeders). Windsprite was the name of the kennel owned by a guy who first bred longhaired whippets in the U.S.
Our old man rescue is the easiest dog ever (except for his old man issues that are cropping up lately), but our greyhound rescue is the princessiest dog ever, haha. He’s super sweet and easy-going, but definitely has opinions about what he deserves in life.
That’s great. My whippet mix rescue is afraid of people but he likes dogs. And he has a very strong prey drive, while wildlife seems to show up everywhere recently but he’s very beautiful!
Today a lovely grey filly.
Yaqona - 9.1h dark grey filly by ICh. Unabridged, out of Ch. The Nightingale. I own the dam for a while now, but I sold her first foal at Clicker Lab and the next was stillborn. So I’m glad to see a healthy one now - also she’s the first filly. Yaqona is a Fijian intoxicating beverage, also called kava.
Ch. The Nightingale will be bred to NCh. Al Mundhir.
