I don’t know if this is a bug or just something I missed but I have purchased several pregnant mares lately and some have changed location into my stable and some have not. Is to do with the country they were in when I bought them? If so shipping them over is well out of my budget! Haha
and if they’re not located at my stable do I still get the baby?
If they were at their owner’s stable at the time of purchase, they move to your stable when you buy them. Otherwise, they stay where they are.
Regardless of where they’re located, if they are in foal at the time of purchase, and the stable you bought them from is the breeder of the baby (i.e. it wasn’t bred while being leased), then you will get the unborn foal.
Oh good, I’m looking forward to my first babies! Thanks shanthi
Can I ask then what would cause them not to be located at the owners stable in the first place? would they not have transferred every time they were sold?
If they go to a farm to breed to a stallion and don’t get shipped back home.
Ah ok I have a bit to learn about the breeding process, living in oz just got a lot more expensive!
There are a couple farms with stallions in Oz. I know Jason has quite a few, including FFCh. I’m No Fool. The mares who aren’t at your farm ship from where they were last shipped. So, if they’re already in the US, why send them home? (Aside from being what you’re “supposed” to do.) Send them to another US-based stud.
So my mares staying at someone’s farm really has no effect on anything?
Nope, we don’t even see them
Oh that’s alright then, since I have one wandering around Cricket Hill haha
Mares dont show up in the stallions stable unless we actually looked at each mare breds location. It’s cheaper on shipping fees.
Lol I’ve got a young one at someone else’s farm I think. I’d have to look. when they turn yrlg I think you can ship the babies if they are elsewhere. I ship @2 to the nearest track to start training.
I ship my girls home if I have the money, other wise they stay until I do. I like them home When they foal is all, my preference.
Haha yep definately do not have the money to bring the girls home, but I wouldn’t mind visiting America anyway so they probably don’t mind oh well it will give me a mix of Australian and American stallions for next year to choose from anyways
Actually, I think when ponies turn too they teleport back home. I imagine this quirk will disappear in the rewrite.
For now, just pretend that the taxes you pay on your broodmare pays for their board at someone else’s farm.
The only taxes I am happy to pay Haha
Yeah, I’m not sure how I’m going to tweak shipping in the rewrite. It will be tweaked some, though.
