I think they mean it was routine as far as colic surgeries go.
I can’t believe Brentina is 18! I remember seeing her go in a dressage futurity type thing years and years ago.
They both seem like they are doing okay.
Kinda sucks, I was looking forward to watching her do one last test in the retirement ceremony, but at least she is okay.
Brentina is an awesome mare and is very deserving of a happy AND HEALTHY retirement.

Sadly colic surgery is becoming VERY routine. During last summer my boss got called out practically every day for a colic surgery.
Is it really ‘sad’ when all of those horses would have died not that long ago? At least we can treat it a lot better now.

What I meant is that there is a startling increase in the severity of colic that requires surgery.
