Breeding Rankings-Inflation In Price??

What do you guys think breeding ranking will do to prices in the auctions, etc. Like a Bronze mare with a Foal By What’s It Worth…Still big money or just dropping or hiking cause he is the major sire (Only Platinum)??

In my personal opinion, as a a still new member, I would say that it’s still be pretty big due to the What’s It Worth blood.

I agree but…The rankings, do you think that they really matter for the runners?? Or just for the breeding shed?

I think prices should definately increase. Increase maybe only marginal as it now takes less ‘effort’ to determine the success of a horses lineage. Fillies will see the biggest increase especially those whos dam is a platinum graded broodmare.

Jason is probably right about the value of fillies, but you’ll have to keep in mind that a younger broodmare’s rankngs will be more fluid. Mares have far fewer foals to base a ranking on so just because you see a certain ranking on a mare doesn’t mean you should just take that ranking as face value. Rankings are an excellant starting point, but you still need to do your home work.

Agreed. I think some stud fees might increase (mine probably will next year) as it’s a lot easier to say/convince mare owners to consider your stud when you can say he’s one of the top 20 sires in the game than to list all his MSW/SW/SP foals.

But as far as auction on runners, I’d say it’s probably not going to have a major affect.  Just faster to get an idea of the overall quality of a horse’s sibs.
