Can someone help me understand the rules for the Breeder’s Series a little better.
The way I read them is:
That the series is for Stable bred horses only, and that FF horses and created horse are ineligible.
That the horse must be nominated by the breeder, and must make the qualifying list to be eligible to run in that series.
Now I find it hard to believe that so many stables would just enter a horse that didn’t qualify just to lose the entry fee not to mention create unnecessary work for Shanthi.
So can someone tell me where the rule change is.
These are the horses in question.

Yep, those are the rules per se… but as you can see no takes the time to look if they have horses that are qualified to run. That then means the races are not full and are filled with FF horses that I see you DIDN’T complain about. Everyone plays the system and if the race had filled with nominated horses and I lost my money…fine. I’m willing to take that risk. I have, unlike the others possibly, taken my horses out of those races and have in fact lost my money for doing so on Odette as it was after the entries had closed. Hope you are happy. Object of the game… race horses and make money!!!
There is no rule change. As Myles said, sometimes people don’t check the qualification list prior to entering.
Generally I try and remove horses who aren’t eligible after entries close. (Once I get time to code, I’ll be preventing those horses from being eligible for entry to begin with.)
Myles - I’m not sure what the point (or tone) of your message is, but FF horses get automatically entered into races by a script, so they’re at a pretty distinct disadvantage for racing (no jockey preferences, no equipment, etc.). It is done purely by age/gender.
I did check the BS Qualified lists and only had one horse qualified to race in this years Series, Glenfiddich in the 2YO Dirt.
In case anybody is having difficulty entering their horses in the BS races:-
When I tried to enter him for the race on Nov 28th, using the “Enter Races” link from the “Racing” drop-down boxes, when I clicked on the race, it said that I had no horses eligible for that race. However, I then went to Glenfiddich’s horse info page, clicked on “Upcoming Races” and was able to enter him that way.
I have a horse Onion who is nominated, has 43 points, two others of mine who are alternates show their points and they match to what the qualified list says, so I’m taking it as correct.
Can someone explain (like I’m a 5 year old) how Onion who’s points would see him on the list, isn’t?
It’s not just based on points. It orders by: stakes wins, stakes places, points, allowance wins.
So Onion would qualify for spot 20 instead of Pimped Out Gucci, but POG has 41 points (with 2 allowance wins) to Onion’s 30 points (with 3 allowance wins). And Onion only has 30 points because his dirt race doesn’t count towards the SC Breeders’ Series.
Just as a matter of curiosity, I looked at all of the horses in the BS qualifiers lists. About 90% are bred by either Black Storm West, Generous Bloodstock, Cricket Hill or Denoux Stud with a handful bred by Lochiedo Stables and one or two each by Rainee, Gotapa and Dreadnought. None of the qualifiers are bred by any other stables, including none bred by our stables.
One further question, using Onion as the example, is he totally excluded as he’s not in the top 20? Or if on the final day the races isn’t full he can enter?
Supposedly, only the top 20 can be entered, but I don’t know for certain if the code is going to check for that.
I went to pre-enter As You Sleep in one of the BS races on Nov 22nd (SC fillies, for which she is ranked 18th), however, I noticed that the SC colts was listed as one of the races she “was qualified to enter”, even though it is for colts only.
Just on a hunch, I checked a couple more of my horses and they are apparently also “qualified to enter”, even though they aren’t in the top 20 on any list.
