Breeders Series Entries

Hi @Shanthi, I was checking entries for the BS races this weekend and noticed some horses are entered that shouldn’t have been able to enter yet, specifically American Spirit & Secret History in Race 46.

Horses in italics are alternates and are not eligible to enter unless another qualified horse is not entered, or the final day of entries arrives.

Sorry that was me, being away at the moment I thought they get in with others not going.

As it stands there’s only 3 others entered

I just wasn’t sure if it might become a continuing issue for some of the more popular BS races down the line. If unqualified horses fill the class before the qualified ones have a chance to enter, that could end up shutting out horses that are supposed to have priority.

I was looking at Upcoming races for one of our horses, Deborah’s Mistake, View Horse: Deborah's Mistake and two races that showed up for her were the two 2YO Breeders’ Stakes races on Dec 13th. When I looked at the qualifiers for both races, she isn’t in the top 20 for either of them. If memory serves me, she shouldn’t be qualified for the Seabiscuit Breeders’ Stakes, which, I believe, is for 2YO colts only.

Actually, all of the 2YO Breeders’ Stakes races were among her upcoming races.

I think this is a known bug. I had some horses have BC races show up under Upcoming Races when they weren’t even nominated. I want to say nomination races can be funky under Upcoming Races.

Another BS curiosity:

Cairns is an alternate for the BS 4yo+ dirt.

Since it’s the last day for entries for the 10th, I thought he should be able to enter this race:

He’s at Aqueduct, so location shouldn’t be an issue. So why can’t I enter him? Race also doesn’t show up on his upcoming races when I try using his horse page as starting point.

I had a quick look but didn’t see anything obvious - there’s some discrepancy between the top 20 list on the qualifications page and the top 20 it pulls for race entries, but I can’t see what it is.

Sorry, will have to be fixed next year.

I’m relieved to hear it’s indeed an error in the system and not me completely overlooking something, I was so confused, haha.

Thankfully he’s only qualified at slot 19 anyway, so no harm done that he can’t run. Was just wanting to fill up the field a little because it’s no fun adding a SW to a horse’s record when he’s got nobody to run against.

I’m happy to take an easy SW haha. I ran two colts in a previous BS race and was happy for the easy win, especially since it crept one horse closer to studhood.

Especially when he has 5 SW and I’m trying to get one more win closer to stud qualification. I added a buddy for him who needs 2 more wins as well. They can battle it out together.

and I won’t complain if no one else adds anymore horses :joy_cat:

I can imagine with how difficult it is to get a horse to stud that an easy win is welcome. Clearly I haven’t dealt with the struggle of getting a horse the last few wins, because all I was thinking that it looks lonely on the race record haha. I don’t think my entry had any chance of snagging the win away if that helps, I was surprised he’s qualified at all.

I was looking at the entries for Saturday’s That’s Debatable Breeders’ Stakes for 4yo+ F/M and noticed that one of our horses, Peacock Street, was “eligible” to be entered, even though she is not in the list of qualifiers for that race. I am so tempted to enter her in the race, especially as there are currently only 3 horses entered for that race.

I’d enter her Lewis.

The glitch shouldn’t exclude you if you are down the list and hold a nomination.

What should happen is any nominated horse can enter but on the day the races close a line is drawn under the top 12 qualified.

Something for the future but it would be awesome to be able to search which horses hold BS or BC nominations. At the moment I feel like I’m going on memory.
