Breeders' Cup Game

Yeah, I wouldn’t ordinarily try and take it back, but given that the sound is so pathetic, I figure it’s worth a shot.

If you haven’t tried G1 Jockey 3, I’d recommend that. No breeding, which really sucks, but the racing is a lot of fun, and quite in-depth (training actually works/has an effect; you can do steeplechase races, which I love, etc.)

No, I haven’t tried G1 Jockey 3. Is that the newst release for that game? Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll look into it.

It’s a semi-old game (2003), but for pure jockey stuff, I haven’t found anything better yet. It’s made by Koie, so it’s got the same quality of graphics as Winning Post 7, the game mentioned upthread.

I haven’t heard anything about another release, but it’d be cool if they made one.

For the record, I think it got such a low rating because there is no betting or breeding. If you ignore the fact that it “should” have those elements, it’s a great game for what it does, which is allow you to ride/manage horses (you can’t own horses, but you can select races for them).

Well, fingers crossed Frankie Dettorie/Melbourne Cup Challenge is a HEAP better. Though, I’ve heard a couple of big races/tracks have been ignored. :frowning:

I love Gallop Racer. I’m playing 2003 I think [different branding down this part of the world]. I’m playing on easy at the moment in my 53rd season. My homebreds are SS! Finally! That is the only thing I wanted to do really before I start a new game with the ‘hard’ setting on. Hope it isn’t too hard though… But I’m getting sick of having a horse unbeaten as a 2-Y-O, 3-Y-O, 4-Y-O, 5-Y-O and 6-Y-O with 30+ GIs inc. 4 BC Classics…

Yeah, easy level is just kind of insane. Same story with G1 Jockey 3.

What horses are you using to breed?

I’ve used Jayho extensively - he’s in almost every mare/sire I have bred. Endless Libra has been a nice influence for a bit of speed and sprint. Round Cosmos is a nice mare I’ve been using. Bit of Western Tiger every now and then too. Wonder Whale is alright, he’s a little low on the temper which irritates me endlessly… Don’t have many mares I’ve been using, just chucking in a new line when the inbreeding gets out of control, no one special though. The boys are all good though. I bred a mare named Clendon Park and she’s a super mum. Bred her Endless Libra x Round Cosmos then crossed the her with Western Tiger, Jayho and Wonder Whale and they were all really nice.

How bout you? Any luck with any particular horses?

Nope, so far all the 2yos I’ve bred have sucked. But I haven’t gotten to breed yet on my starting-from-hard game…I’ve got 2 really crappy mares in foal now.

Of the ones you mentioned, the only one I’ve seen is Wonder Whale, whom I like. I tried to sweep all 3 GRS series with him, but he ran out of energy so I only did 2.

Just about all of them, I think, had to be unlocked in the Dream Series. When you win a race in that, then you gte a cool little horse. I think to unlock that you have to win all three in a year GWS.

Yeah, I unlocked the DS (or at least, people started talking about it) in my easy->hard game, but never actually got around to competing in it. Maybe in another few years on my hard game I’ll get to compete.

Yeah the Dream Series is hard even on easy. Only bother to take your best Hall of Famers there… Don’t even enter if they aren’t super horses, they will get flogged unless you get that cool Star Wars Whoosh thing.

I finally got my game last night  oiye… lol it took forever to ship… anyways… haha I told myself I was only going to play for a half hour then go to bed (I was exhausted and that was only at about (9:30)… yeah well I ended up playing well past midnight.
I thought it was strange/funny that all the horse names are so similiar. No imagination hehe

Greg (my husband) is obsessed with the Jelly line. He’s a big fan of Jelly Demon
