I love the recap, what a neat idea!

I’m a little sad because I accidentally messed up Highway Runaway’s Breeders Cup entry. I did a supplemental nomination with the intent of entering her, but forgot to ship her from Australia to Belmont and couldn’t get her there in time. :sob: I was so confused when I couldn’t enter her on Sunday and realized she was halfway across the world lol. I think she had a chance at being my first Breeder’s Cup win with a homebred, but oh well. Hopefully my other entries do well!

I had one qualified so I shipped her to Belmont in advance, then forgot to enter her  :face_with_peeking_eye:

Loved the summary by Hilda.

I noted with interest that she pointed out that three of our horses are the top ranked entries for their respective races. I’m not sure whether to be happy or not, because I remember that in previous years, the top ranked runners in the BC races don’t have a great record.

When the initial list of qualifiers was posted, we didn’t have any horses on it, so supplemented a bunch of them. We did have two horses that we supplemented for BC races that ended up not in the list for their races at entry time, so lost their supplementary entry fee. Oh well. Them’s the breaks.

As an Aussie I find it really confusing  I rely on the points my horse has as the guide but then that doesn’t always relate to the order of entry. Even some I think should be eligible for certain races aren’t (The SC endurance is a prime example)

I’m not sure if the FF lists are totally accurate or I’m just an idiot  either way good luck everyone.

Thanks for the summary! We have quite a few colts entered needing just 1-3 stakes wins to be qualified so we have fingers and toes crossed for some good results. We also have a few horses entered from our freshman stallions’ first crops.

Good luck today everyone. Only one BC runner for us, we had a few qualifiers but stable form has been a bit up and down so decided to only risk the one runner.

Love the recap, that was such a nice read!

Unfortunately no breeders’ cup for Gotapa this year, I’ve been so busy with real life that I missed the entry deadline. :sob:

Nevertheless excited to see what the fields will do and who will have some BC winners, good luck to all!

Thanks Hilda, a fab overview of today’s Breeder Cup races, have a few entered so fingers crossed. Like Andy not quite sure how points work and if they work properly, did a few late nominations but just entered horses that were eligible. Good luck all :horse_racing::horse_racing::horse_racing::horse_racing::horse_racing::horse_racing:

Meanwhile, the real life favourite, 151st Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignity is OUT of the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Looks like the new leader is Contrary Thinking, a 5-year-old gelding by Into Mischief, with 50-1 odds.

Now that the results are in, here are some interesting statistics (at least I think they are).

Of the 18 top ranked runners, only 4 won their races, 5 were 2nd & 4 were 3rd. In addition, 3 of the number 1 ranked horses, didn’t run in their respective races.

The top winning owners were:-
Black Storm West - 7
Denoux - 4
Littlefield - 3
Cricket Hill - 2
Gintara - 1
Starfish Stables - 1

The top winning breeders were:-
Black Storm West - 6
Denoux - 2
Littlefield - 2
Cricket Hill - 2
Gintara - 1
Starfish Stables - 1
Coleman Branch - 1
Rainee Thoroughbreds - 1
Generous Bloodstock - 1
Final Furlong - 1

There were 17 different sires of the winners, with only Dark Ages (2) siring more than one winner.

Congratulations to the connections of all of the winners.

Japanese Forever Young wins the Breeders’ Cup Classic:

I wanted to add who are the real life favourites in my summary, but I don’t understand this odds thing
Anyway, Forever Young was 3rd in the Breeders’ Cup Classic last year, in which he also won UAE Derby. He was also 3rd in Kentucky Derby last year and in Dubai World Cup this year. I think we could add him as a real life Famous Stallion when he retires! He’s a grandson of Deep Impact.

It’s definitely on my list to bring back! Need to figure out how to (sensibly) handle voting from like 8 years ago.
