Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup 2018 (Apr. 29) - Pakistan Star, Blackwind

Next race I wanted to write about is at the beautiful Sha Tin racecourse.

The Queen Elizabeth II Cup was first run at the Happy Valley Racecourse in Happy Valley, Hong Kong to commemorate a visit to Hong Kong by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip. It evolved to an international event in 1995, with Hong Kong horses competing against those from the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, France, Japan and Australia.

The Final Furlong race is coming this Wednesday, and we already have seven horses entered, including four champions, and the rest being stakes winners / stakes placed. The real life Queen Elizabeth II Cup 2018 will happen on Sunday (Apr. 29) and there is a video about selected runners:

And more info about them here:

By the way - there is a cool detail on each horse’s page, their “running style” depicted in arrows, where the darker arrows show how the horse was positioned in previous races. Maybe an idea for FF rewrite!

Congratulations Joe of Littlefield for winning the QE Cup with [color=red]Ch. Blackwind! The 4yo filly had only two starts this year, both stakes wins on wet turf. The QE Cup doesn’t get as much international coverage as other real life races, but it is one of the richest Final Furlong races, and Littlefield has just won the previous one - Dubai World Cup.

Kentucky Derby comes next!

And the winner is… Pakistan Star
