Auction Page Question...

I was just trying to create an auction for my stable and I got this message…

Auction Creation

You are not allowed to create auctions at this time!

Back to Horses for Sale page.

I have never had an auction except for the one I set the wrong start time for and never launched.  I was just wondering if the data base has a min. wait time between auctions and that’s why it’s not letting me create one at this time?  If so, could I create one soon since I technically didn’t have one before?

OK, guys, I’ve setup a way for members to hold their own private auctions using the game scripts to run the auctions.

From the Horses for Sale page, there is a link in the auctions table to create your own auctions.

The following restrictions are in place:

• You may create an auction 7-28 days in advance
• Each auction will last 7-14 days
• Auctions may have time limits of 12-48 hours for horses to sell
• You must sell at least 5 horses for an auction to be valid
• You may only have one auction setup at any given time
• If you create an invalid auction (i.e. you don’t bother to consign enough horses, or I deem your reserve pricing/consigned horses to be inappropriate) your auction creating privileges will be revoked (other punishment(s) to be delivered as deemed necessary/appropriate)

Please be sane about this…if I see people “auctioning” horses that should be in claiming races, or completely useless breeding stock, I will revoke the right to have auctions altogether.  The same goes for reserve pricing…as of yet, I have not put a restriction on what reserve prices will be allowed.  If members create auctions with insane reserves on horses that don’t merit a reserve at all, I will delete that option for privately held auctions.

Because this is now setup, forum auctions will not be allowed.  Every time we have a forum auction, someone ends up spazzing out over getting/not getting horse A, or what time they bid on horse B, etc.

You may use the Horses For Sale forum to announce any auction you may be planning.

Your account is flagged.  I believe that the penalty for creating an incorrect auction is 3 or 6 months of not being able to hold an auction.  I’m not sure, I didn’t set up that part of the auction code.  I don’t see where that’s accounted for in the code, so you’ll have to wait for Shanthi to get back and try to convince her to return your auction creating rights.
