Ashado

Ashado will be making her final career start in the BC Distaff this Saturday. She has won 12 of 20 career starts. Some of her highlights include the G1 Spinaway @ 2yo, 2nd in the G1 BC Juvenile Fillies in 2003, G1 Kentucky Oaks, G1 Coaching Club American Oaks, G1 BC Distaff, G1 Go For Wand, G1 Beldame, and G1 Ogden Phipps. She could pass Azeri for leading money-earner among Fillies and Mares.

Trainer Todd Pletcher: “Since her maiden race she’s run in every major stake that’s been around,” the trainer said. “You just don’t see horses very often maintain that kind of high level for so many races and so many seasons.”

Excercise rider Angel Cordero says Ashado will always be near and dear to Pletcher.

“She’s got to be one filly that he’s never going to forget,” Cordero said. “He’ll be around for a long time training a lot more horses, but she is going to be on his mind all the time. Whenever he talks about horses, she is going to be there.”

This is a really nice horse. I’ve really enjoyed watching her race, and hope she finishes her career with a big bang, and wins the BC Distaff. Some horses are good, some are great, and then there are the champions. Ashado is definitely a champion.
