I figured FF would be my best bet to ask this question, as it seems a lot of people know a lot about computers.
I recently bought a horse game called My Horse and Me by Atari for PC. I waited very impatiently for it for about a week (I was really excited for this game hah)ā¦ the mail cameā¦ I stepped on a rock running barefoot back insideā¦ quickly put the game in my driveā¦ installingā¦ installing! Error? I nearly died when I realized I had a 1305 Error and could not install this game.
I Googled 1305 Errors and did everything they suggested to fix this (aside from calling the local Tech store where my computer was purchased as weāre a bit low on money and I really donāt want to call if itās something I can fixā¦). The disc isnāt scratched or dirty as itās brand new, the drive is clean, I have all the latestā¦ MDAC things or whatever they are, I tried copying and pasting the CD into my C drive (It wouldnāt copy everything thereā¦), and I loaded it on to my sisterās computer (I was raging haha. It installed, but wouldnāt play).
There seem to be a lot of computer problems when it comes to this game as it has very specific system requirements. But Iām positive this isnāt the problem, as Iāve checked my system against the recommended requirements. Iāve had some problems with my D drive (it shows up on My Computer as DVD-RAM drive. Is this a problem? Thatās my only CD drive). For example, back when I was trying to burn a CD, it wouldnāt recognize the D drive as a drive I could burn CDs to, however a thorough check of my computer with Edea confirmed that it is (or should be) a burner.
I know nothing about computers, which shocks people almost to death. They assume because I can turn it on, load a program, and make it work that I am the Almighty Computer Geek. Wrong. So wrong. I am very thankful for any input anyone can give me. I just donāt want to resort to calling Tech Rescue So a big thank you in advance :3
I bet itās something clear as day. I need to learn more about computers @.@
Are you trying to run it on a laptop or desktop? There are certain games that just will not play on a laptop no matter how good, fast etc. a laptop is. This may be one of them.
Do you have any anti-virus/firewall type software running?Ā If youāve tried closing all programs, restarting the computer, and it still wonāt work, then Iām not sure what to suggest.Ā Also, on your sisterās computer, try restarting it after the installation and see if it works then?
Atari doesnāt have tech support via phone; you have to email them and theyād probably just tell me what all the sites say. I posted on the Atari forums for help, however no one seems to care
Now I canāt wait to get home to see if the firewall and anti-virus are the problem (crossing my fingers here!).
Turned them off and it installed! Woohoo! Though now it wonāt play lol. It tells me to āPlease insert the original DVD āMy Horse and Meā ***!ā
Eugh. This game >.> haha. It better be worth it when I get it to work!
Thanks so much about the firewall. I never would have thought to turn it off
Not sure what to tell you about the DVD thing, assuming you have it in the drive and the computer recognizes itās there.Ā Google to see if thereās a no-DVD crack somewhere, maybe?
After your issues with the PC version, I went ahead and bought it for Wii (it was all of $20 at Best Buy and I like to support even remotely decent horse games so that people will make more).Ā Itās pretty fun.Ā I donāt know how much the Wii enhances that (you turn by āpullingā the Wii-mote or Nunchuck in the direction you want to turn and theoretically speed up/slow down by flicking both or pulling back, though the speed-up doesnāt work super great for me.)Ā Now that Iāve āunlockedā actual tall boots so my character isnāt showing in knee socks, I think itās pretty cool.Ā Went all the way through beginner and am now 3 or 4 courses into āAmateurā.
You are horribly mean I probably would have gotten it for Wii if I had one. My choice was basically between small screen (DS) or big screen (Desktop). I went for the PC version, though I can take my DS anywhere.
Thatās really cool about the controls though!
And yeah, it is a pretty cheap game. $22 to buy it online (only place I could get it) from Wal Mart and ship it. The DS version is about $30 though, I think.
The issue with theĀ Ā Ā Dvd player sounds as though youāve got intermitent issues with your Drive. Dunno if you can open up your Pc, but you might try checking to see if all the wires are seated correctly inside.
Actually I think I saw people having that same problem on the forums for the website (and claimed that they were not using a crack for the game).Ā Good luck getting it fixed!
Yeah, a lot of people were complaining that the CD was running as if it were an illegal copy. My uncle is pretty amazing with computers (he codes those evil robot voices that yell at you to āplease hang up and dial againā and the ones that as you to press one for English, etc.) so he should have some idea, if I can get a hold of him. Hrm.
Rhi, Iāll mention it to him when I get a hold of him, but youāve just spoken jibberish to me lol!
