Hi everyone! I just want to say that I’m really happy and excited to have found Final Furlong! It looks like it’s lots of fun, not to mention challenging. Hopefully I’ll be able to learn a lot, as everyone seems to be really nice and helpful. I can’t wait to get started!
Welcome to FF. You’ll be a good guinea-pig for whether the automatic waiting list script detects you as an “extra active” member and moves you to the top of the list.
Welcome! Enjoy the game!
Welcome , you will love the game.
Any question don’t be afraid to ask.
Degs is telling the truth The older players are always thrilled to answer questions! and they’re so prompt and give extreamly high quality answers.
The community is incredible at this game. It’s entirely unlike anything I’ve come across at any other Horseracing game.
If you ask, you shall recieve.
I’ll even give you a cookie for asking good questions <3
Yuh I get the burnt cookies from Edea cuz I ask the bad questions
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
And you are right:
It’s UBER fun
It IS challenging, so when you get your stable and horses, seriously, come find one of us and we’ll help you out with race suggestions, etc if you need help.
It’s a lot to learn once you start out, but you ALWAYS learn more as you continue to play the game. I’ve been playing since FF’09 and I’m still lost in some areas of the game. But uh, Edea’s really awesome at answering questions haha. So… I might not be the one to come to XD Although I seem to be better at running everyone else’s horses than my own rofl.
But, yay! Can’t wait to see you around
Stop asking bad questions and thou shalt not recieve burned cookies.
I Like cookies (biscuits over here!) If I ask good questions will you export some to England
And welcome to the game Turquoise - I got a lot of help when I was new so do ask, don’t struggle on your own
BISCUITS AND TEA, YES!
…er, right? XD Big chocolate chip cookie and milk fan myself… and -sings- ice cold milk and an Oreo cookie!
Haha. Yeah I don’t even really remember starting out… everything was a blur really. I definitely did not get it and real life wasn’t helping so, to be honest, this is my first -official- FF year haha. I’m actually on every day training and shipping and taking care of my horses. Unlike the poor guys when I first started out =(
So, to add on to my first post If you notice FF flying by (even though it goes by real time!) it’s because FF is just so awesome… I mean… I come on every day and keep myself busy for at least half an hour -every- day. And that’s just checking up on horses, shipping if necessary, and training. Then on days when I have to enter races, I’m on for usually at least an hour, however teh main page will tell you, usually, I’m logged in 24/7… cuz really, I am rofl. Which is uh probably why my computer hates me 0=) It only gets turned off when I’m going away for a week+ or I’m mad at it…
Hehe I’m a big rambler, really. If you would like to ramble some day, please come find me
Hokay I shall stop my ramblings hurr!
Biscuits eh? I can do that.
I make a mean crumpet too, consequently.
haha-i think that this is the best welcome to the game thread that i’ve seen in a long time!! lol
Welcome Turquoise!
Biscuits (cookies!) and tea = YES! What are Oreo cookies? I’ve read about them in books and they seem to be somewhat of an icon but we don’t have theme here as far as I know - and hershy (?) bars. I’ve read about them too
Crumpets Edea? - yes I like them too and muffins, both american and english and scones and brownies… I’ll stop now I’m putting weight on just typing them
Oh Penny…
You’re missing out!
I am completely ADDICTED to Oreos. They’re not quite like any other cookie.
And Hershey is just a brand of chocolate that’s popular over here - more milky/creamy than most other chocolates I’ve tried, but without being bland in flavor like some cheap milk chocolates can be.
That makes me want to send you some in a care package just so you can experience them.
They make life heavenly…at least for a chocolate addict such as myself.
Sorry for being so off-topic, Turquoise…but I do hope you enjoy the game. I’m relatively new myself and am still learning, but if you ever have questions, I’d be willing to share what I’ve learned thus far.
I dont know, I can’t eat many oreos. Chocolate makes me feel a little sick lol.
And yes, crumpets. I learned how to make them one day at my friends house, they lived in England for a few years and had a good recipe there. I don’t have a crumet ring though, so I have to use a biscuit cutter.
And yes, its very off topic. On another forum I go to I’m literaly the Queen of Off Topic. I have derailed no less than 50 of their threads, and had a whole section of the forum dedicated to my Off Topic rambles. We call it the Island of Misfit Threads.
Oreos are basically just cookies that are a sandwich of chocolate cookie and very thick, preservative filled creme. Hershey’s chocolate is alright, but trust me, you guys have better stuff over there. Do they still sell the Harry Potter chocolate frogs? That’s like… my fondest memory of my trip to Europe. Buying chocolate frogs and getting the Wizard cards. Don’t know why they didn’t bring those out over here. Ok, I guess visiting Scotland is my fondest memory, but I still have every single card I got while I was over there from the frogs…
Thanks everyone! Now that my stable is approved, I’m so excited!! You guys are right, the community & atmosphere here is just awesome!! Right now I’m trying to figure out where to locate my stable. After looking at the racing schedule and shipping costs, it looks like either near Aqueduct or Belmont is the most affordable. Before I decide, any suggestions anyone? Also, I noticed in the racing alert, there is a claiming race, but the claiming price is half of my total money, so it probably isn’t a good idea to blow half of my money already! But I probably should focus on getting to know my two horses and get the hang of things before I get more!
P.S.-Love the cookie & chocolate talk! lol
The New York Racing area is really nice for newbies, simply becuase there are 3 tracks all right their so shipping is cheep
Belmont’s racing season starts in September, so it’s a good time to move into that area.
The area came to me recommended for those reasons, and I’m going to recommend it to you in turn for the same reason.
Thanks!
o.O Oreos… Oreos are LIFE! And rofl I probably put on weight too just typing about food D: But it’s all good. Volleyball will keep me even! XD
I could probably eat a whole package of Oreos (double stuffed – mmm) by myself. Just give me a gallon of whole milk for them and you’re my best friend lmao.
And yes! As I was reading your post, Penny, I was thinking of sending you Oreos and Hershey bars!! Dark Chocolate is my favorite.
-really wants Oreos now- -______________-
I’m in Saratoga – However, anywhere in NY is great and Woodbine is right there too. =)
