Amazing!

The most amazing thing happened today…

My sister & I have been looking around for a Thoroughbred mare… one we can actually breed for racing foals… we have been studying pedigrees closely… and keeping watch of all the sale sites we can find…

A couple of weeks ago we came across an older mare… and we contacted the owner… and went to look at her today… She’s a 1989 Grey Mare & was raced as a 3 & 4 year old… she did fair winning three times… but that really wasn’t her selling point…

She’s a Spectacular Bid daughter!

And we bought her!!!

Here is her pedigree… I’ll be posting pictures as soon as we can get some…

I’m So Excited!!!

Awesome! Nice breeding out of a Nijinsky mare. How many foals can you get out of her do you think? Any studs you have your eye on?

I’ve been watching the Aussie sales. They have a nice unraced 2-y-o for sale in an upcoming auction but he’s so well bred he might go for more money than I would like to have a play around with… Think I’ll leave horse racing ownership until after studies anyway…

Very cool . She does have nice lines. Any idea on how her existing foals ended up doing?

Congrats. Who are you planning to breed her to?

We have contacted Harris Farms in CA. The have a stallion we both absolutely adore… and are hoping to be able to breed her to him in March…

His name is Redattore… he has an awesome pedigree… & race record… here is the link to his pedigree… http://www.pedigreequery.com/redattore Bred to Arabid… we should get a classic runner… our problem is we will want to keep the first foal out of this cross… but really should sell it breed back & then keep that foal… it will all depend on gender…

Aw, Redattore is vaguely related to my old mare. Buckpasser was her paternal great-grandsire.

They always talk about keeping the third foal. We know lots of thoroghbred owners in kentucky that always keep the third foal as they say it is usually the best.

well Arabid has 6 foals listed… none seem to have raced… we got her from a sport horse breeder… who rescued her in Feb of this year… She has not had a good life until this lady bought her… and the only reason she was selling her is because she needs to down size some… she was very picky on who she would sell to… so we feel very fortunate that she chose us…

Arabid will be 17 this next year… and we want to breed her at least twice & hope for an awesome filly to keep… and if she recovers from foaling quickly… we may breed her until she’s 21… she’ll let us know if she can handle it…

I am so excited…

Have fun with that! Looks like Arabid and Redattore will be a good match.

very cool… Grey, like her daddy…I lived near Spectacular Bid when he was alive; at Milfer Farms, I mean. A stallion with personality… if you minded your fingers… She looks like a very nice mare… Damascus in the mare line is awesome…
Good luck! Hopefully the little one will pop out running!

Ok finally got some pictures of her to show you… Here are links to the pictures…

Mind you she’s pretty dirty. Pictures were taken just on Sunday…

An Update… Arabid is being delivered on this coming Sat… I am so excited… we are now looking at a couple of Slew sons to possibly breed her to… we also found out she has produced one stakes winner sired by High Bright… we thought about breeding her to him again… but he’s a bit pricey for us right now…

I’ll keep you posted on who we decide to breed her to…
