Advice wanted

This guy is driving me bonkers. He’s clearly stakes quality, but doesn’t want to win stakes races. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m planning on finding a decent allowance race for him next so that he can at least get a win this year (and maybe that’ll perk him up for stakes races), but does anyone have other ideas for him? I’d love to get him studified if he can get the last stakes wins in (at least he’s got the grade 1 requirement covered!), but it may be a lost cause.

Clearly he’s not responding to my methods, what would you try if he were yours? (I do plan on trying jumps with him at some point, but ideally he should get studified on the flat and any SWs over jumps is a bonus.)

I know its not much but If he were mine I’d have to know if blinks or shadow rolls would help get him over the line

Yup I would definitely try different equipment. His wins were all on dirt with F8, he stopped lovin the dirt and seems to like the turf but he may like it with different equipment. So experiment with that for a couple races. I would also look for some crazy long races, he seems to improve with distance… I know long races on flat are hard to come by though

If that doesn’t work, I would try to jumps… But I tend to be quick to switch to steeplechase, the lineage I have tends to produce awesome jumpers.

Thanks! I’ll fiddle with his equipment and see what happens.

That’s my problem - he does seem to want 10+ furlongs which is tricky.

I should probably do jump trials with him and see what it says.
