Nice day out overall! The only lackluster performance came from Dobies Bight who is finally done with running I think, and will be retired to the broodmare herd even though breeding season is pretty much over.

Did pretty much as expected as 28 of yesterday’s runners were having their first races for this year and there were a number of the others (13) that hadn’t run for more than 3 months. In addition, we had 7 2YO’s having their first ever race, so realistically, we didn’t have very high expectations for 2/3rd of them. The majority of them ran as expected, finishing nearer to last than first, although we did get a couple of them finishing in the money (mainly because there were only a few runners in those races and we had one or two other runners in the same race, who finished behind them). Even withstanding that, we did have a couple of highlights to report, Ancient Victory’s win in the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes, her 2nd win in her 2 starts, and Charlotte’s Last’s 2nd in the G1 Lake Placid Handicap. These two horses alone accounted for almost 60% of our purse money earned yesterday.
