6/9

Bah! Von Lich was beaten by a nose, but congrats to Sponsored especially after racing only a week earlier!

WINS

[color=red]Dreaming of Spring (Nightfight) broke her maiden in a 5f 2yo filly race
[color=blue]Jazzy Legz (Strider) also won his 5f 2yo maiden race

PLACES

[color=blue]GCh. Von Lichtenstein just was beat by a nose at the wire today in the 12f Belmont Stakes by Sponsored. Sad he didn’t win as he won the 2yo dirt TC last year, but I’m likely going to send him to the Canadian TC and plenty of other big races left in the year

SHOWS

[color=blue]Royalnavy (Man O’War) was third in his 9f dirt open allowance for 3yo+

My other four horses entered just didn’t fire in their races.

Wtg sponsored!

We sent out 15 and 8 came home with a check, better than the last few race dates!

Wins
[color=red]Sheeza Firework(chivalry) broke ner maiden winning an NW-3 in mixed company by 4 lengths!

Place
[color=blue]Steadfast Steed in an OA for 3 yo

[color=red]The Chance To Dance ran a good 2nd in the G-2 Just a Game BC for 3/f only losing by a nose!

Shows
[color=red]Fools Fruit the longest race ever for this filly she led her stablemate below to the line in a 13.5f, SC for 3/f

4ths
[color=red]Northern Moon this leased mare has done well since switching to SC, she followed my filly to the finish. They always stick together in a race.

[color=red]Journeys End in a 16.5f, OA in mixed company, longest race to date, she did pretty good.

[color=red]Cats Lucky Day (my lucky day) in an NW-1 so far she’s done well, one of my better 2yos

And 5ths
[color=red]Cops Fever in an OA for 3/f

The rest got caught in traffic or just didn’t fire today.

Excellent day, with three out and three bringing home a cheque.

[color=red]I’m Not Bluffing finished 5th in her NW3 over 17f. Proved to be much too far for her but at least she bought in some money.

[color=blue]Crystal Wizard won his OA. Been very consistent this year and might have to start looking at some stakes races for him although that will have to be outside England as we’ve no stakes races on dirt.

However, highlight of the day comes in the form of a second place for [color=blue]Quarren in the Epsom Derby Grade 1. When I entered him there was only a couple of other runners and as the field filled up there was a lot of other good ponies in the line up so really pleased he did so well

Eight out with half hitting the board, so not too bad.

2yo’s
[color=blue]Nindalf (Hope to Succeed) ran 3rd/9 in a NW2.
[color=green]Vuela Vuela (Point Given) ran 3rd/12 in a Maiden.

[color=red]On Dove’s Wings finished 4th/7 in her SC debut (NW3), so not bad!
[color=blue]Glorioso ran 2nd/6 in an OA.

We give a farewell pat and a basket of carrots to [color=green]Notable Dancer who ran 5th/6 in his final start today. He was our first homebred and our first stakes winner, banking almost $130,000 before suffering a broken leg. He was brought back a year later but had lost his form and only managed to hit the board once in 8 starts. We own his dam, my first starter horse upon joining, as well as two half-siblings with a third due next year. He’ll live a long, happy life getting fat on the farm in retirement.

4 out, and we got two 4ths and 2 bombs. Ah well.

Not our best day out, but let’s focus on the positive.

Pearls of Wisdom was 2nd in her NW3.
Celtic Cross won her OA.
Scarecrow was 2nd in his OA.
Reprise was 2nd in a Gr. 1.
Swan Song was 3rd in her ungraded.

And we sent 17 to the track today…

Some really cool news to report!

First of all, our handsome created red chestnut colt [color=blue]Click and Play broke his maiden! He won a NW1 Allowance for 3yo in Del Mar. Very happy about him!
Our other colt, recently claimed [color=blue]Al Mundhir also won his NW1, by 2 1/4 lengths.
Another win is from [color=red]Crownette, in open allowance for 3yo fillies. We also entered there our maiden filly [color=red]Embellished, although it was her first race ever. This was because she matured late and I wanted to see if she’s strong enough to run in stakes where she’s nominated. She finished 6th/11, so we’ll probably skip some of these to try something easier.
[color=red]Shadow In The Dark finished 3rd/6 in a starter allowance, with a good speed figure. But we’ll think of changing some details.
We also had [color=red]Your Chant in Just A Game Breeders’ Cup for 3yo F and she was 5th/10.

Sorry, Lindsay!  I’m glad he won but also sad that we don’t have a TC winner this year.

I knew [color=blue]Sponsored needed some sort of kick in the pants to quit nipping at Von L’s heels hence the Metro a week before.  He always seemed to do well under pressure.

Anyway that wasn’t our only highlight of the day.  With the few Nightfight foals who raced today we brought NF’s foal race count over 500 which bumped him up to PLATINUM ranking.  So super day for Nightfight and his foals.

Woohoo Nightfight! My fave stud! Lol ( I have 3 of his babies due in the next few weeks!)

This, 2016, is a great year.

[color=blue]Acapulco Gold had started his racing career so well, but then it went downhill. He picked it up again in a 10.5f NW2 Allowance for 3yo+ (D), placing 1st/6.

My homebred [color=blue]Alfresco has been exciting me ever since he matured enough to race. He ran in a 5.5f NW1 Allowance for 2yo (T) placing 2/14. What a guy.

We sent out 11 runners today and came back with 4 wins, 2 seconds, 3 thirds and 2 “also rans” (although, the way they performed, that is debatable!!!)

[color=blue]GCh Worthy Victor won his second Classic race of the year, the G1 Epsom Derby Stakes in England. He is now just 1 Stakes win away from being Stud qualified.
[color=red]Ch Hi Honey completed a Stable Classic double when winning her second Classic race of the year too, the G1 Epsom Oaks Stakes.

[color=blue]WV & [color=red]HH had won the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas and G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas respectively in early May but I got greedy and ran them in the English equivalents 3 days later (they both finished last). However, after a four week layoff, including 15 days rest at a Boarding Farm, they came back at their best.

Our other two winners today were [color=red]Ch Last Nights Jitter, who won her second consecutive race, an Allowance race over fences at Belmont, and [color=blue]Pointed Question, who won his first race in our colors, a Starter Allowance race on the Turf at Belmont.

We also saw good performances from [color=blue]Ch Liberty Creek, 2nd in an Allowance at Belmont; [color=red]Ch Veiled Dancer, 2nd in the Ungraded Cab Calloway at Belmont; and 2YO 's [color=blue]Final Mystery, [color=red]Devil’s Flight & [color=blue]Superdocious, who finished 3rd in their respective races.

Commiserations to the connection of [color=blue]GCh Von Lichtenstein on his narrowly failing to win the US Triple Crown, but congratulations to the connections of [color=blue]NCh Sponsored on finally winning one of the US TC races, after finishing 3rd and 2nd in the first two.

Congrats on Pointed Question’s win! It’s always nice to see former Crickets run well for others. =)
