Our 2YO’s continue to be polite, always letting the other horses in their race finish ahead of them. We’ve had 2YO’s running in 20 races so far this year (2 runners in each race) and have only had 2 races where they didn’t finish last and second to last, and in both of those races, they managed to beat one horse. Hopefully they’ll do better next time out (they can hardly do worse!!!).
Highlights of the day were wins for Desert Wind lease The Red Keep in a maiden and Ch. Little Island heading a Starfish 1-2-4 in the G2 Pillar Steeplechase. We did have Sponsored Deb finish 2nd in the Oaks, beaten 3/4 length.
We realized too late that this would have been an appropriate day to run Maythe4thbeWithYou but missed the chance. We did have a 2YO called Kentucky Derby running today (if you call finishing last running) but, based on his performance today, the only way he’ll see the Kentucky Derby next year is to watch it on TV.
