Really good or really awful week. Lots of wins, though.
Deadly Beauty finished 9th in her NW1.
Out of the Ashes was 8th in his NW1.
Fit to be Tied was 2nd in her NW2.
Black Cherry won his NW3.
Dal Riata was 6th in her OA.
Forbidden City was 5th in her OA.
Take It In Stride won his NW3.
Bandit’s Love was 3rd in an ungraded stakes.
Maya was 7th in her Gr. 1 start against the boys.
Higher Agenda was 5th in her Gr. 2. Alleluia was 5th in the same race.
Toast of the Town has a few more wins in her, it seems. She won her Gr. 3 against the boys.
Reprise won her Ungraded stakes against the boys.
10/14 I sent out finished 5th or better and we had a couple of first-time stakes winners
WINS
[color=blue]Filled With Stars (As You Wish) was a winner of the 9f Ungraded Jennings Handicap for 3yos.
[color=red]Sirona (Irish River) was the winner of the 7f Gr. 3 Jaipur Stakes for 3yos. Most of the field was colts/geldings but the fillies finished the best in the field
[color=blue]Actors Guild (TakeMeToHollywood) was the winner of his 8f NW1 allowance for 3yos
[color=blue]Scotch Thistle (Highland Laird) won his 6f NW1 allowance for 2yos
[color=blue]Out of Sight (Devil May Care) finally broke his maiden winning a 14f NW2 turf allowance… perhaps time to test the jumps with him?
SHOWS
[color=blue]Monoceros (Starzen) finished second in a 8f NW1 allowance for 3yos
[color=red]Dream to Reality (Foolhardy) was second in the 11f Gr. 3 Louisville Handicap for 3yo+
A couple fourths with [color=blue]Gimme n’ Eclipse and [color=blue]Burn Notice in NW3 allowances plus a fifth from [color=red]Mission Bell in a maiden race.
Sent out 5 and 3 brought home checks, so not too bad.
2yo’s
[color=green]Vuela Vuela (Point Given) ran 4th/12 in his NW1.
[color=blue]Nindalf (Hope to Succeed) was 3rd/8 in his Maiden.
[color=green]Legal Strategy continues to be an honest money-maker and won his OA against a full field. He’s now hit the board in 7 of his 8 starts this year
[color=red]R
Greeat year so far.
The not so great [color=blue]Virginia Challange placed 11/13 in 8.5f NW3 Allowance for 3yo+ (SC). If he doesn’t place anything above 3rd by the end of this year, he’ll be gelded. Maybe threats will work.
But I’m so excited about [color=blue]Gallant Affair placing 1/6 in 10.5f NW3 Allowance for 4yo+ (Dirt). He hasn’t placed anything under third this year! (Knocks ferociously on wood.) Time to try a stakes race for this guy, now that he only qualifies for OA.
Sent out 13 and 7 brought home a check, seems like a number 3 kind of day!
Shows
[color=blue]Whatsinaname (worth my while) 2/c in an NW-3 this is his 3rd time out and so far always on the board.
[color=blue]Blood Lance in a 14.5f SC thanks to jump trials he seemed to like it and prob would have done better if not wet.
[color=blue]Pharoah’s Fire in the G-3 Jaipur stakes not a bad showing considering the wet!
[color=blue]Pride of Hollywood in the ungraded Jennings handicap! Pretty pleased with these two boys showing they can handle stakes races.
[color=red]Mi Amore In the G-2 sheepshead bay stakes only 26 pts from grand ch!
4th
[color=red]In The Fast Lane in a 3/f OA
5th
[color=blue]Epic Montage another switch to SC, too bad it was wet, hoping he does better next go round.
The rest didn’t like the conditions or got caught up in traffic, my poor mare Devils Grace just missed her 2 pts to GCh. By finishing 6th in her stakes race. . Maybe next try!
Very promising results.
First, our 2yo filly [color=red]She’s Outlawed, won her NW2 Allowance for 2yo fillies, which is a second win in her career.
Another win was from [color=red]Jorghinia, in her starter allowance. We shipped her to Del Mar for this race just to see if she likes short distance, which her dosage suggests. And she does, it seems, as she won by 7 1/2 lengths.
Another race was 8.5 furlongs steeplechase, where our Alley Cat filly [color=red]Alchaasibiyeh finished 3rd/13, and [color=red]Lacune was 8th. It was a very fast race on a wet track.
[color=red]GCh. The Woman In Black finished 2nd/10 in 12 furlongs allowance for older fillies. She will soon try steeplechasing. She already had some jump trials and loved it.
Mine either won or flopped. At least more won than flopped, and that included a stakes win, yay!
[color=red]Gotta Triumph (2yo, Gotta Go) won her NW1.
[color=red]Can’t Fool Me (2yo, Foolhardy) won her NW3.
[color=red]In The Loop (As You Wish) broke her maiden in her claiming race. Best of luck to Generous Bloodstock with her!
[color=red]Apprintice (Candidate) won the Real Delight Stakes, making her a multiple stakes winner.
Thank you We’re looking forward to running her.
So, so results today with two 2yo earning a fourth place each. One also finished completely out of the money. Of the older brigade [color=red]Send Me Flowers was 3rd in her OA. Pretty consistent but could do with getting her head in front a bit more.
[color=blue]Baringa ran 5th in the Queen Alexandria stakes. Probably a bit far for him and he’ll drop back in trip.
Best performances of the day came from [color=blue]Quarren and [color=red]Peep Show who ran 2nd and 4th in a blanket finish to the Royal Hunt Cup.
Only had one:
[color=green]Alottadar (2yo, Holy Bull)
Third start and always on the board. Not too bad the little grey gelding the no one else wanted. I hope he keeps the consistency. It would be nice to see how he does against stakes ponies.
Sent 7 out - we had an 8th and 9th place finish which we are sorting through, but everyone else did well:
Our homebred 3YO Nightfight filly, [color=red]Girlfight, FINALLY broke her maiden! Her jockey keeps saying she hates and dislikes her equipment no matter what I put on her, so apparently she’s verrrrry picky about what she’s wearing, and that may be key to finding her success. Today I tried a new combination, so we’ll see what the jock has to say in the next few workouts. Maybe it’s still not quite right and she can do even better?
5YO [color=green]Secret Surprise (A.P. Indy) ran 2nd in his claiming race, and still came home with us. He loves placing in the top two. It’s going to be a shame to see him go (and his paychecks!) if anyone bids on him in our auction (he has no reserve).
2YO homebred [color=red]Singsong (x Rahy) finished 2nd in her NW1 - she has done this in all four starts. Apparently I should have named her “Bridesmaid”.
3YO homebred [color=red]With A Fleurish (x Gimme A Shot) ran 3rd in her NW2.
And finally, our boy [color=blue]Triomphe (x Magic Glory) was put to a very big test today in the G1 Metropolitan Stakes. He ran against some major (and very intimidating) names - so much so that I nearly didn’t enter him (cough, cough - Drum Major, Sponsored…). But our brave boy was entered nonetheless. He didn’t win, but he did manage a very respectable 4th, within noses of the frontrunner. He didn’t even earn his highest ever speed factor today. I think our boy prefers turf, enough so that it MIGHT have changed the game. We’ll be aiming for a turf race on our next outing, but for now, our boy is getting a hero’s welcome and plenty of time to rest up.
