5/23

Fantastic Day! Sent 13 out, all but one brought home a cheque of some kind. 10 of them were top 3

2yo
Bluebook (Secretary) was my only flop of the day running 9th in her maiden

First Fight (Nightfight) ran 5th in his maiden

Face The Fire (I’m Your Angel) was the best 2yo today running 4th in the Coventry Stakes. Not too shabby for a first stakes run!

3yo+
Stolen Gift (Foolhardy) ran 2nd in a dirt allowance. She is leased off of Southern Cross and has been running quite well for me

Starting Point (What’s Your Point) and Burn It Down (What’s Your Point) ran 1st and 2nd in an open allowance. They are both coming off of quite a bit of time off so I am VERY pleased to see them do well. Especially because i’m partial to their sire

Bamboo Diva (Starz n’ Stripes) ran 2nd in an open allowance with some new equipment. Very happy with that. I would really like her to reach champion before I retire her next year

Nobleton (Point Given) WON his allowance. STOKED about this, he hasn’t been running well this season (he rocked as a 2yo though) so I gave him some time off and blinkers and clearly he liked it

Olivine (As You Wish) I’ve been nothing but frustrated with so I threw him in a random $15,000 claimer which was on dirt which he hasn’t liked in the past and he won… Interesting

Gunnerside (Irish River) ran 3rd in a dirt allowance. I tried him on a longer surface then normal but he just really likes running 3rd.

Now for some stakes ponies
Cinnabar (What’s Your Point) ran 3rd in the Peter Pan Stakes. He is slowly getting closer to the top!

Lumberjack (I’m Your Angel) ran 2nd in the Dixie Stakes. Very pleased with him, it was quite a large field

Sunday Paper (Sunday Silence) WON the Royal Gloucestershire in england. This boy is doing SOO well this year, this makes 4 stakes wins in a row

13(4)-4(1)-4(1)-2(1)-1(1) $236,950

All I can say is BLAH!
I had one winner and one 5th , and brought home a filly for her pedigree
South of Saturn(highland Wizard x Townsend Gold)

Sent out 13 today, and sadly, most of them are nothing to brag about (though most of their speed factors show that they at least put in a respectable amount of effort):

4YO leased mare, [color=red]Kissing Point (x Point Given) broke her maiden today!  She’s been slowly getting the hang of it - I’m so proud to see her in the winner’s circle!

4YO [color=blue]Triomphe (x Magic Glory, out of a Planet Hollywood mare) is definitely the star of the show today.  I believe I stated last time out that I was going to try and find him a stakes race, and so I did.  He WON the G3 Maryland Breeder’s Cup.  I won’t hold my breath for him reaching studship (I haven’t had any luck with that yet), but I can say that this boy appears to really hate dirt in his face.  I’m just hoping we can convince him to continue with this streak.

New 3YO claim, [color=blue]Dawson’s Rudge (x A.P. Indy) ran 3rd in his NW1 - an improvement from his last (and simultaneously his first ever) start.  We’ll get there.

There were no fourths…so onto the 5th placers, who brought home some money, too…barely.

3YO [color=red]Aunt Pearl (x Rahy) ran 5th in her claimer, and did not get claimed.

3YO homebred [color=red]Always Ladylike (x Giant’s Causeway) ran 5th in her NW1 and remains a maiden.  Sigh.  She did, however, earn the highest speed factor of the day.

2YO [color=red]Nicole’s Majic (x A.P. Indy) ran 5th in her maiden, which is disappointing after she ran a promising second place in her first start.  She’s still not coming in at the back of the pack, and she’s earning some decent speed factors, so I’m not overly concerned at the moment…but it’s always nicer to see a top 3 finish.

Everyone else was 6th or below.

Not bad. The 2yos are still flopping left and right, but that’s par for the course, right?

Highlight of the day was Stillwater-bred Fiery Foxx who won the Kentucky Breeders’ Cup against the boys.
Another Stillwater-bred filly Bandit’s Love won an ungraded stake against the boys.
Clarity of Night was 2nd in Gr. 3 against the girls.
Pie in the Sky earned his first playcheck in his NW2.
Diadem was 2nd in her maiden.
Queen of Sheba was 3rd in her Gr. 3.

Everyone else was eh.

Congrats on your 2yo Nightfight filly, Clarity Of Night, finishing 2nd in her stakes race! Wow!
Also, a big congrats to War Letters decent 2nd place in a full field.

I guess we did better than last Saturday when we sent out 15 and our best finish was a pair of 4th’s. Sent out 13 today for a 2-1-0-2 return.

[color=blue]Massacre enjoyed his switch to SC and ran 1st/6 NW2 by 2-1/4 lengths.
[color=red]Irish Miss won her NW2 after a short vacation.
[color=blue]War Letters (2yo, Nightflight) ran a nice 2nd/14 in his NW3 against a tough field.
[color=blue]Nindalf (2yo, Hope to Succeed) was 4th/10 in a NW1.
[color=blue]Personable Joe ran a respectable 4th/6 in a very tough OA.

Thanks! She comes from a pretty strong female line, so I’ve got some high hopes for her!

Two colts ran today.

First, [color=blue]Gold Tic won his NW3 allowance against full field of many other great 2yo’s, just a week after his previous start. That’s a great pony!
The other one, [color=blue]Sugarbird, can’t find his way to the winner’s circle yet, and he finished 7th/10 this time. Maybe he will improve next year.

Woo! I may want to steal babies from them in a few years.

Certainly. =)

Better day that the last few.

WINS:

[color=blue]Batista (Nightfight) - Second win from this guy and in a full field to boot.

[color=blue]Hopes Wish (As You Wish) - Great win in the Gr. 3 Coventry Stakes.  This was his third win so far.

[color=red]Rose Will Do - Well we were thinking about getting rid of this girl and put her in a claimer where she didn’t get claimed but won, then we put her in a NW3 to see what she would do and she won!  Guess she’s not ready to leave the farm after all.

PLACES:

[color=blue]Thoth (As You Wish) - In a decent size NW1 field.

[color=red]Shadow Play (Nightfight) - In the  Hirsch Jacobs Stakes.  She’s turning into a nice little horse.

[color=blue]Nightwatchman (Nightfight) - In the Gr. 3 Norfolk Stakes.  Glad to see a Nightfight colt doing well over turf.

[color=red]Make My Night - She’s been a finicky one but this was a good finish for her.

[color=red]Lucky Heart (My Lucky Day) - This filly is running better than her momma did at least!  Maybe she got her mommas linage and not her brains after all!

[color=red]Last Moments - Another one I wasn’t quite sure about but she pulled in a nice finish here in an open allowance.  We’ll see what she has left for us.

SHOWS:

[color=blue]Jett Black - In an open allowance.

FOURTHS:

[color=green]The Gambler - A recent purchase and isn’t doing too bad but not all that well either.  He purchased more for a project so we’ll see where he is in a few months.

[color=red]Only Black - In a NW2 allowance.  I’m really hoping this girl hasn’t matured yet or she really got the bottom of the barrel genes from her parents.

Only 2 out, as we’ve been sightseeing with family and haven’t had time to do entries. Both did well, though!

[color=blue]Count Rugen (As You Wish) was 2nd in an allowance.

[color=blue]One of a Kind (No Duplicate) was 3rd in the Hirsch Jacobs Stakes.

Congrats to [color=blue]Gunningdownromance’s son Ghost Hunter on his win in the Peter Pan Stakes.

Congrats to [color=blue]Slew O’Scots’ son Scotch Whiskey on his placing in the Maryland Breeders’ Cup.

[color=red]Kokoro no Kizu ni won her NW3, [color=red]Kingston Cara was 3rd against other 3yo fillies.

[color=blue]Dark Spell (Highland Wizard) finished last of 7 in his NW1. He’s still on the small side, so he’ll be put away to mature a bit.

[color=red]Redheaded Princess finished 3rd in the Queen Mary Stakes. Good effort for her 3rd career start.

A few wins, places and shows for us today:

WINS

[color=red]Damsels Eyes (Robin Hood) won her 8.5f NW2 allowance race for 3yo F. Really love this filly and hope she continues on a winning streak now that I’ve switched up her jockey.
[color=red]Igotafeeling (Worth My While) won her 8.5f NW3 allowance for 3yo F. Time to up her level a little bit to see what she can handle
[color=blue]Demon Hunter (Highland Laird) won his 12f NW1 allowance for 3yo+. I had a feeling he would do better running longer endurance type distances, and glad to know what to aim him for now.

SHOWS

[color=blue]Denali (Highland Wizard) finished a strong 2nd only losing by a head in the 9f Gr. 2 Peter Pan Stakes. I really like how he’s turning out and more stakes races in the future!

PLACES

[color=blue]Luminary (Strider) finished third in a 9f open turf allowance for 3yo’s. A longer distance and jockey change seemed to make a difference.

We also had a couple of fourths with [color=red]Illicit (Highland Bandit) in an NW3 for 3yo F and [color=red]Afireinthesky (Ring of Fire) in the Gr. 2 Shuvee Handicap.
