I’d probably try him over fences since it’s quite late in the season to retire him for breeding. If he were mine, I’d rather give him a full breeding season so he’s got a decent sized first crop.

@Nicole11 I agree with Generous. Try some jump trials or just throw him straight in (at the allowance level). Even retiring some of my boys to the shed in March felt like I had robbed them of so many breeding dates. Best to hope he can waddle home a few times in SC then retire at 5 (unless he turns into a SC rockstar).

But I do look forward to sending him mares at some point. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I might try some trials with him. His sire had his best year as a 6 yr old so I would hate to switch him to SC too soon.

@Nicole11 I didn’t notice the first time, but Cop has only tried stakes all year. Maybe drop to allowance and see if that works as a confidence booster before going to SC?

I would give him 6 to 8 weeks rest. Then try another stakes race before trying jump races. Looks like he’s been busy on the go at stakes level for a long time.
