Sent out 15, came home with 16…
3YO homebred, [color=red]With A Fleurish (x Gimme A Shot) was the highlight (and shock) of the day, winning her maiden. We switched her back to dirt and slapped a figure-8 on her, and she completely changed her trailing-the-pack style for a run where she led from wire to wire. Alrighty. We’ll stick to this, then! Leased [color=red]Never Doubt (x No Duplicate) was dead last. Sigh. I have my work cut out for me on this one…
2YO homebred, [color=red]Singsong (x Rahy) ran 2nd in her debut. She is out of one of my stakes winning mares, and with her daddy, I was really hoping she’d be able to run like this! I’m super, super excited to run this filly this year.
We claimed 3YO [color=blue]Exit Poll (x Irish River) for a mere $5,000, simply because he is 1/2 to the MSW gelding, Jagged Stone, who is having a STELLAR year so far. And he finished 2nd in his claimer, which I hope is a good sign despite the minor competition there. He’s already a 'chaser, though, while his brother runs on the flat. I hope that doesn’t hurt his potential too much…
2YO [color=blue]Ducati (x Magic Cross) ran 3rd in his debut. I’m crossing my fingers for this guy - he’s sired by the same stud as our best runner to date - Magic Flyer - who appeared to be close to able to make stallion status, but never did. So I would love this boy to take his place in the spotlight, now that Flyer is retired. Ducati’s dam was a MSW champion, and he is her first foal.
3YO [color=red]Ciao Bella (x Alley Cat) still appears to be a later maturer, but at least she’s consistant this year. Considering her HOTY mama, I have all the patience in the world for this girl to learn to run. Homebred stablemate, [color=red]Girlfight (x Nightfight) was a frustrating 5th in the same race - a trend she continues to hold up.
2YO [color=blue]Whiskey Charmer (x Silver Charm) finished 3rd in his debut. This boy has had a rough life, and I’m glad it has made him tougher. I’m glad to see him look so promising on the track.
2YO [color=red]Montalvo (x Point Given) was 4th in her debut. Not bad for a $1000 purchase! I’m excited to see how she improves.
2YO [color=red]Brooke Valentine - a activity points redemption - was 4th in her debut as well.
2YO homebred [color=red]Alakazam (x Highland Magic) was 4th in her debut as well.
4YO homebred [color=green]Notmyfirstrodeo was 6th in his starter allowance against a surprisingly tough field.
And the other three to run were all 2YOs - homebred [color=blue]Star of Lakshmi (Octagonal - 8th), [color=blue]Nazgul (Jazz It Up - 9th), and [color=blue]Laudri (x Point Given - 11th). Hopefully they will improve with more experience.
