Just doing the stakes for
fun…
Stymie Handicap
1st: Kensington Road
2nd: Rooftop
Bandit
3rd: Crown Hill
Go the 3YOs… Kensington Road’s last start GI win was too good.
Rooftop Bandit followed him home for third. Crown Hill has beaten Kensington in an allowance
this year. The older horses haven’t got the greatest form around them, but of course someone
will probably run well and throw this out a little.
Suwannee River
Handicap
1st: Dixie Double
2nd: What’s Your Dream
3rd: Seeing Is
Believing
Dixie Double faces her biggest test this year. She’s won three stakes this year
however, she has yet to run this distance. She indicates that she’ll have no problems though
after an excellent run in the 8F GII Edward Manningfold last start. Should give this a good
effort. What’s Your Dream just doesn’t seem to be there yet this year, but she should be
fit for a win any time soon. Maybe today. She’s had two reasonable races this year but not
quite good enough to make her a cert for this. Seeing Is Believing looks like a strong filly
and should do well in her first stakes this year.
Richter Scale Breeders’
Cup
1st: Dreamboat
2nd: Barchetta
3rd: Long Shot
Dreamboat should win
this easily. She’s the strongest sprinting mare on the track this year. Barchetta for second
on her last start effort to finish behind Dreamboat. She’s a good sprinter and should give
this an honest effort. Long Shot looks good for third with some good efforts this year.
Staying away from Get The Point. Wasn’t a huge fan of the field she won her stakes in last
start, not sure if she’s up to this class this year.
Santa Anita
Handicap
1st: National Post
2nd: Sudden Death
3rd: Doc Hollywood
The big
one for today… Actually pretty hard to pick… All horses are going well this year.
National Post can’t be faulted. I think he should have a great run today in this small
field. His last two starts have been very competitive and his last win in the GI Underwood
was very good. Sudden Death’s form this year has been excellent. He is yet to finish below
third. Ever the bridesmaid, he’s been second four times in seven starts. He is quite hard to
fault and should be there all the way. Doc Hollywood is my choice for third over Nightfight.
Not sure if he’s up to scratch yet this year, but his dirt form from last year is pretty
good. He’s beaten some awesome horses to say the least… Nightfight has had a couple of
good runs this year, but I just don’t think he can topple the others in this
race.
Frank E. Kilroe Mile
1st: Simply Heroic
2nd: Irish
Flyer
3rd: Cuban Contender
Two win and two seconds from four starts for the year is hard
to go past. Simply Heroic should make this three in a row. Irish Flyer had a good run last
start to finish second and looks back to a better distance in this. Cuban Contender has been
there in all his three starts this year and should go well again in this
one.
San Rafael Stakes
1st: Magic Glory
2nd: Bold
Ebony
3rd: Mission Bay
Magic Glory should be too good in this one, though he has had a
bit of time off since his GI win over the same distance. Bold Ebony had a shocker last start,
but he’s back to his best distance and should be right in the finish. Mission Bay has won
two stakes this year and should be running on well at the finish of this, but it might be a
little short for him.
Winning Edge Stakes
1st:
Candidate
2nd: Turbo Charge
3rd: Harry Potter
Candidate should do really well in this
race. He’s run third in two turf starts behind four excellent horses and he also won his
last start on dirt over some excellent horses. He should have no problem with this field.
Turbo Charge had a great race last start over the same distance, he should be somewhere in
the finish. Harry Potter is nice and consistent and you can always count on him to run a good
race.
Thoroughbred Club Stakes
1st: Can’t Catch Me
2nd:
Sunbird
3rd: Redemption
Can’t Catch Me is the best filly in this field. Forgive her last
start, her first three starts for three wins this year was excellent. She should easily hold
this field. Sunbird has had good runs this year including a win against the girls in a GIII
and good runs against the boys for two other starts. She should run this well. Redemption has
been pretty consistent this year and should manage a place.
Thousand
Guineas
1st: Black Magick
2nd: Highland Paint
3rd: In The Know
A race
won by some great fillies over here in Aussie… Can’t really argue with a horse that has
won two GI races in a row, one over this distance. Black Magick looks good to win this.
Highland Paint has won GII over this distance this year and should be right behind Magick. In
The Know has been really consistent with the best fillies this year and should be in the
finish again. She’s a 8F GI winner aswell… Nice field…
