3/14

Nice day! Even with stakes ponies. No stakes wins, but that would be greedy.

Win:
[color=red]A Capella (What’s Debatable) finally broke her maiden in her 11th career start. She’s only been worse than 4th once in her life, so she’s consistent, but it’s nice to know she can find her way to the winner’s circle (eventually). Now to see if she can repeat the performance.

Places: All stakes! Woo!
[color=red]Perfect Princess (Worth My While) in the Bonnie Miss Stakes.

[color=red]Morgan le Fay (Highland Wizard) in the Santa Margarita Handicap.

[color=red]Perfect Timing (A.P. Indy) in the Tristarc Stakes.

Shows:
[color=red]Ring of Darkness (Ring of Fire) in a NW2.

[color=blue]Must Be Silver (Must Be Magic) in a NW1.

Fourths:
[color=red]Cuckoo (Foolhardy) in the Toboggan Handicap.

[color=red]Apprintice (Candidate) in the Santa Anita Oaks.

Congrats to [color=blue]Highland Wizard’s daughter [color=red]Sardonyx on her win in a NW1.

Congrats to [color=blue]Gunningdownromance’s son [color=blue]Ghost Hunter on his win in his first race! Here’s hoping many more are to come.

[color=red]Pegasus Pride (Tiznow) went 4th in the Santa Margarita Handicap. Pleasantly surprised, since it was a last minute gamble.

The two others I sent out totally flopped though.

Sent out 9 and 4 came home with money including a stakes win Finally!
[color=red]Cardinal Sin-(highland pride)6.5f NW3 Allowance for 3yo,Turf - Good, [color=red]5th not sure with her she seems to run hot and cold but at least it’s a check.
[color=red]Cosmic High-(high chances)14.0f Allowance for 4yo+,Turf - Slow,[color=red]7th wondered how long a distance she might like, obviously not this long, and wet too!
[color=blue]Kamenwati-(slew o’scotts)14.0f Allowance for 4yo+,Turf - Slow,[color=blue]9th usually loves long races but hates wet and mud!
[color=red]Time For Bed-(alley cat)5.0f Allowance for 4yo+ F,Turf - Good,[color=red]3rd well she’s finally showing me she can run, she’s been iffy since claiming her.
[color=red]Breakthrough -(high chances)6.0f Allowance for 3yo+ F, Dirt - Slow,[color=red]10thwas going to say don’t know what happened with these 2, then I saw the track condition, neither likes the wet!
[color=red]Pretty Lil Angel-(I’m your angel)6.0f Allowance for 3yo+ F,Dirt - Slow,[color=red]11th she and her pal decided to go for a stroll protesting the wet track.
[color=red]Magic Carpet Ride(cross roads)-7.0f Gr. 3 Toboggan Handicap for 4yo+,Turf - Good,[color=red]1st best surprise of the day! Decided to try 2 fillies in stakes to see what they would do, obviously magic liked it! And against mixed company at that!
[color=red]Graceful Flames-(ring of fire)9.0f Gr. 2 Bonnie Miss Stakes for 3yo F,turf-slow[color=red]8th she doesn’t like slow going so fell back
[color=blue]Kichiro-(high chances)7.0f Gr. 3 Moonga Stakes for 4yo+,Dirt - Good,[color=blue]3rd finally after a long rest a trip down under and bombing his first race there, he’s come back to form, he seems to be wanting really short races as he ages.

A decent enough day though all but one of the stakes ponies flopped. Oy vei.

Alabama Tea was a nice 2nd/6 in a turf NW3 for fillies and mares.

Don’t Put Me Back rebounded nicely today after we dropped her back to allowance company. Came home 1st/5 in a turf OA for fillies and mares. Stablemate Watagan Wildcat was right behind her in 2nd.

Double Luck was the only of the stakes entries to perform well. Back to bridesmaid status again for her apparently, finished 2nd/10 in the Broadway Handicap.

Endless Dawn finished a good 2nd/13 in a dirt NW2.

Ifalike continued the place-itis trend with a 3rd/9 in a turf NW3.

Mr. Chuckles ran a decent 2nd/12 in a turf OA.

Rahystrada made his second start back since his injury and finished well to get 3rd/14 in a dirt NW1.

We gave Succubus a bit of a breather in class today and she seemed to appreciate it by finishing 1st/6 in a turf OA for fillies and mares.

Send 5 out and my stakes ponies forgot how to run :frowning: The rest did ok though!

Cinnabar (what’s your point) ran 1st in a NW2 allowance. I’m very excited about how he has been running this year, i’ll enter him in the next stakes race that fits his running style!

Gunnerside (Irish River) ran 3rd (again) in a dirt race. 3rd seems to be his position of choice! I’ll play around with some equipment and see what happens

Kew Garden (Rahy) ran 4th in an allowance. She has also been running fairly consistently but I would like her to push just a little bit harder. I’ll try some equipment next time

Sent 6 out:

3YO homebred [color=blue]ALLINVAIN (x Worth My While) ran 2nd/8 in his NW1.  He hasn’t figured out how to get to the winner’s circle yet, but at least he’s learned to consistantly bring home paychecks.

4YO [color=red]AFTERGLOW (x Affirmed) ran 3rd in the G3 Tristarc Stakes down under.  She’s become quite the runner for us, although I have to make sure she’s not in over her head.  She’s making momma (who recently retired & is at our farm) proud!

3YO [color=red]CIAO BELLA (x Alley Cat, out of our HOTY mare, Twilight Embers) has yet to break her maiden - but considering her sire, we expect her to be a bit of a late bloomer.  She managed a 4th today.

Homebred 4YO [color=green]NOTMYFIRSTRODEO (x Temptation) ran 5th in his NW2.  At least he brought a paycheck, small though it was…

Also rans:
Girlfight (3YO homebred, x Nightfight) remains a maiden with a 7th place finish.
A.P. Stoli (3YO from our mare, x Stressed) was 9th in her NW1 and also remains a maiden.  Sigh.

Lord I’m slow today.  XD It only just dawned on me that I had horses race today.  Two out today.  One came back with a 2nd place finish, the other…not so much.

Tennessee Crossing finished 2nd in his 6.5f nw3 allowance.  I think we’re finally starting to get him figured out after a slow start.

Fine Detail did well for us last year, but that seems to be over.  Might be time to retire her to brood.  She finished 9th in a 7f grade 3 race.  :stuck_out_tongue: She hasn’t so much as placed in anything this year, which is becoming rather frustrating.

Sent out eight ponies and came home with a win, a place, three shows, and a fourth. My stable’s doing way better than this time last year, so I’m very pleased.

Another of my 3YOs broke her maiden! This time it’s the lovingly named [color=red]USS Enterprise, a stout Tiznow  gal who came home first in a 7.5f turf allowance. We’re gonna find another 7.5f race to see if she can duplicate the results before stretching her out.

[color=blue]Fleet Admiral placed in a 10.5f dirt allowance and right behind him was [color=red]Sheridan’s Valley. Took a bit of a gamble on Valley, since she didn’t do well lat year and I was on the verge of retiring her. If she keeps picking up checks she’s staying in the barn the rest of the year.

[color=red]Solar Mystique finished third in a 7f turf allowance and [color=red]Vishnu also showed in her 10f turf allowance. Of the two I’m a little more concerned for Vishnu, who hasn’t shown much kick this year compared to last. She’s only 4 so here’s hoping she starts picking things up in future races.

[color=red]Sundance Kid ran fourth in a 6.5f turf allowance but it looks like a quality field so she acquitted herself quite well.

[color=red]Stand Back and [color=red]Thanatos were my two clunkers today. Back to the drawing board with them.

Just the highlights.

[color=blue]Smokin’ Star was 2nd in Toboggan Handicap. Yay, a Grade 3 placing for our stallion! Also [color=red]Ch. Melodramatic ran there, but finished far behind.
[color=red]Jorghinia was 1st in a claiming race; it seems that they’re her specialty, doesn’t want to run in anything else. Oh well.
Then [color=red]Lacune was a promising 2nd in her race, I hope that the will improve with her great pedigree, and [color=red]Ch. Private Party was 3rd in allowance. Two mares left to the breeding shed, two 2yo fillies came to replace them

And the week is so nice besides that. I watched the “Buck” documentary, a movie about Buck Brannaman. So precious. And I found my next favourite dog breed  ;D which is Australian Cattle Dog. That’s it!

Well aside for missing the entries for the Toboggan for New Rule kicks self it was a great day.

[color=red]American Dance was back on form today winning her 6.5f Turf NW3
[color=red]Hawaiian Ice is clearly enjoying steeplechasing, 1st in an 11.5f NW2

[color=red]Unbridled Run, who has always been a consistant placer for me, finally broke her maiden. 1st in a 9.5f Dirt NW1

3 out of the money after nice races last out.

Bold Legion won his second in a row! He’ll go in another allowance and if he does well in that, then it’s off to the stakes! So excited about this guy.

Earthride Nation had another strong second in his allowance. I hope he gets a dry track soon, though, as he’s only ever run on wet or slow tracks.

Sirannon broke her maiden as well, stretching out in distance and trying turf for the first time.

Pretty pleased with the results.
