[color=blue]Player ran in the GIII Coongy Handicapp. It was a bit short for him at 10 furlongs (he likes 12), but nevertheless he ran a solid 2nd. His record for the year is 5(5)–3(3)-1(1)-0-0 so I can’t complain too much.
Other horse out today was [color=blue]Confirmed Account who ran in the GIII Moonga Stakes. The race was probably a bit much for him in his 4th lifetime start, but he likes the dirt and there weren’t too many dirt races coming up in Australia and he was ready to run so I decided to give it a try. He ran a decent 6th behind some nice horses. I think he might be stakes caliber eventually, but not today.
Don’t Be Alarmed and Silver Slew were 6th and 7th of 8 runners in an NW2.
West Tower was 3rd in an NW1.
My very favoritest pony, Whirling Blade, finished 3rd of 13 in the Gr. 3 Toboggan Handicap. The result is promising enough to make me want to keep running him for a while yet, though I’m pretty sure he will be retiring sometime this year.
Exceptionalmiss was 6th of 10 in the ungr. Broadway Handicap. She never really fired; perhaps the wet track was a factor.
We also claimed Heaven’s Mistress, a created horse who won her claimer today. I need to lay off the claimers for a while, though…I’ve got 50 ponies! Eek!
Battle Hill Sent 4 to post today… with some pretty good results…
First out was [color=red]Fallen Angel She came in 3rd/6 in a 5f NW3 Allowance against the girls… this little lady (14.3h) loves turf… and sprints… she just has to run 2x as fast to keep up with those longer legged mare… I still love her… she’s running this year to complete her title and will retire next spring…
Second out was [color=red]Winged Victory This filly has just switched to SC and came in 2nd/6 in an 8.5f SC Maiden… She’s very well bred and I think the move to chasing is going to be a good one for her…
Third out was [color=red]Foolish Dame she came in 7th/10 in the Gr 3 Bonnie Miss Stakes… this filly runs hot and cold… she seemed to prefer turf as a 2 yo… and won her first outing this year on turf… but has failed to fire since then… maybe a try on dirt or maybe shorter distance… Still working on her…
Fourth out and by no means last! [color=blue]GCh. Dark Demand won the Gr 1 Florida Derby! He’s been off his game the past two outings so we sent him home for a nice rest, brought him back to Gulfstream a week before the Derby to acclimate him… and he did not disappoint us… He’s headed for the Wood Memorial next… and hopefully on tho the Kentucky Derby… He’ll be my first Derby entry if we make it!
I only had one horse race today, a claimer I won about two (I think) weeks ago. This was his first race for me and he placed, which I’m happy with. I also got another claimer today, Echo Park. If I remember right without going back to look at her page, she was created. Another of my horses who was leased to another stable came in 5th in his race for the second time in a row, so his lease was terminated (not by my choice, but it’s ok, I’m glad to have him back). Now if only I could figure out just what I need to do to actually make him run. Oh well, he’s only ever been in four races, so we have plenty of time to figure something out. Waiting patiently for the next races to come around.
[color=green]Unique Opportunity took away another 1st in a field of 13 at the Toboggan Handicap. I thought he might be outclassed because the field was amazing but he did it on a wet surface on turf no less. This makes his 5 Year Old season a whopping 5(4) times out and 5(4) time winner, plus this makes his sixth straight win in a row, which includes 5 Stakes! He also managed to get his GCh title today. For a random last minute buy my boy is making me so happy!
[color=red]Estimated Prophet is showing us great promise with a 2nd place today in her allowance. She’s one of our only horses with a pedigree and has shown to be really consistent this year. I wasn’t so sure when we first got her but she seems to have settled in really nicely and that’s always good to see.
