Yay for monster fillies and pretty creates!
Our rising stars made us proud today, although these were not big races. But we have time for those.
[color=red]Crownette - 1st/6 in NW3, her fourth start and fourth win. We really didn’t believe that she will win again!
Now she will check out the Australian boarding farm. [color=red]Your Chant - 1st/8 in NW2. And I was thinking of scratching her, because she had a heavy workout. But she was raring to go. And won by 2 lengths. [color=blue]Click and Play - recently created for activity points. He was 4th/14 in a maiden, the only one with zero racing experience in this race. And he’s pretty.
Also ran [color=red]Roll of Quarters, dark grey created broodmare prospect that we claimed recently. 14f was too long, so she gave up, but we’ll try something else before breeding.
Came home with a new pony [color=blue]Tom Cobbley a handsome 3yo son of Irish River out of an Affirmed mare. Second start, second win, both in claimers but hopefully he’ll have some talent. No other runners today.
Mixed, confusing bag. This year has been so odd for my runners.
Four went out, five came home.
[color=red]Ama Nesciri, my six-year-old starter mare, won an 8.5f NW3 for 4YO+ F/M over fences. She’s been doing really well this year as an older horse, so I’m hoping she keeps it up.
[color=red]Ch. Laurey Williams, a five-year-old mare by Omaha, won 8.5f allowance on dirt for 4YO+ against the boys. She’s been a really consistent runner for me; I may have to try to find her a nice stakes spot.
I also claimed [color=red]Summertime Blonde (Lonesome Glory x Red Cat, by Red Sunset), a four-year-old mare who caught my eye. She ran 2nd/6 in her claimer, and I’m really curious to start playing with her and see what she can do on the track. Lonesome Glory broodmares seem to be producing some nice foals, too, so I’m hoping in a few years she can join my broodmare string.
My other two runners, [color=green]Dual Honor (Diplomat x Dry Your Tears) and [color=red]Ch. Moon Eclipse (created) flopped in their races. Dual Honor will probably come home to rest; Moon Eclipse has been running well until today, so hopefully she just needs a little less distance to get back in the action.
[color=red]Snowy Range, who I bought in the 2YO Auction last year, finally brought home some prize money. 4th in a 9f Turf NW1.
I guess she’s going to be one on the classic distances, which she couldn’t have last year, but mostly I’m glad she’s finally showing some form
Mixed bag here and of course some surprises and disappointments. Had 9 out 5 in the money.oh and good luck with summer I owned her orig and had problems figuring her out.
Shanthi and Imagine I was going to put a claim on him too! Lol that’s 2 weeks in a row we liked the same horse!!
[color=blue]Lionheart-6.5f NW1 Allow, 3yo,Dirt - Fast,[color=blue]4th this guy continues to keep me on my toes, never know what he will do.He continues to flirt with a win, but stops just short!
[color=green]Franklin-9.0f NW1 Allow,3yo,Turf - Good,[color=green]3rd really shocked here I had given up on him and was going to toss him in a claimer. He cost me $125k I would love to see him earn some back!
[color=blue]Highland Velvet-7.0f NW3 Allowance for 3yo,Dirt - Fast,[color=blue]1st Continually surprising me one of Laird’s colts, I was praying for a stakes horse, he may be a late bloomer! He came out of the 5th PP to lead and win by 2 1/4 lengths.
[color=red]Double Shot-10.5f Allow,4yo+,Turf - Good,[color=red]1st this old girl was almost in the broodmare shed this year(she’s 5), I’m glad I decided to wait she’s obviously not finished racing! She came out of the 12th PP to lead, and won by 1/2 length.
[color=red]Rocking Bird-10.5f Allow,4yo+ F,Dirt - Fast,[color=red]10th no idea what happened here?? Maybe too long.
[color=green]Sunday Glory-8.5f Allow,4yo+,Dirt - Fast,[color=green]4th this guy continues to be one of my more dependable horses, might not be winning but he’s bringing home a check.
[color=blue]Riverton Heights-7.0f Allow,3yo,Turf - Good,[color=blue]9th no idea again, this guy had been doing ok and he was rested and fit
[color=red]Blood Diamond-6.5f Allow,3yo,Turf - Fast,[color=red]13th these next two decided to go for a stroll and gossip! Dia just came back from a rest at a farm in Cali and had A/A.
[color=red]Fighting Fish-6.5f Allow,3yo,Turf - Fast,[color=red]12th this one since I claimed her has been all over the place. Not sure if I will keep her or not.
[color=red]Ordinarily Yours ran 4th/7 in a NW1.
[color=red]Anne Boleyn ran 4th/6 in her NW2.
[color=red]A.P. Goodyear looks more like her old self and finished 2nd/14 in an OA.
[color=green]To Alaska ran 2nd/6 in an OA, just missing the winner by a nose!
[color=blue]
Notable Dance has been struggling to come back from a broken leg last year. We’ll mess with his equipment and focus on just training for a bit, since he doesn’t seem to like his gear, before trying him on the track again. If all else fails, we might consider gelding him. He is 5, so his peak might have come and gone. He finished 13th/14 in an OA.
Teenage Temper has done well for me since I bought her earlier this year, she’s finished in the money in every race I’ve put her in so far since I bought her. Today was no different. She finished 3rd in her 7.5 NW3 allowance.
Belle on the other hand, I can’t seem to find a race she can do anything with. I’ve had her since she was a weanling, and she’s still unplaced. sigh
Much more consistent results today, apparently the ponies don’t appreciate not being trained by hand daily, time consuming but if it keeps them happy oh well!
We were very pleased with Hainesport today, this was his first start in over a year since breaking his leg. He’s not one you’d think to be fond of but he is one we have come to like very much, he’s not got much pedigree or shown much ability prior to breaking his leg, seeing as he’s still a maiden after 17 tries. Today he came back in a turf maiden for older horses and finished a very decent 3rd/6.
Blue Thistle got back on track with a nice win in a turf NW2 for older horses, 1st/8.
Ironhide missed being sent to the vet for removal of a few body parts by the skin of his teeth. Haha, today he perked up and finished a very game 2nd/12 in a dirt NW1, I’d love to get another monster from Crucial Move before she retires from broodmare duty so we’ve been hesitant to geld him just yet. Luckily for him and us he ran pretty well today though he’s a ways away from being studified!
Warm Whispers still isn’t ready to break her maiden quite yet. Finished 2nd/7 in a turf NW1, this is the fifth time she’s come close but hey she’s bringing home some dough!
Stage Darlin’ ran a good 3rd/9 in a turf NW2 for fillies and mares.
Key to Fame broke his maiden today in a dirt NW1 for older horses, he’s been knocking on the door his last few starts nice to see him get there, will be interesting to see how he progresses from here!
Sent 6 out, came home with 7! 5 were in the money. No stakes ponies running today
Diamonds In Air (The Black) ran a solid 2nd in a NW1 allowance. I tried some new equipment on him, he seems to like it
Stolen Gift (Foolhardy) WON her allowance (with the boys). Super excited about this, it was her first dirt start after running numerous turf starts poorly. I’ve leased her from Southern Cross, hopefully she can make me some $$
Gniess One (Boldness Shows) ran 4th, I expected better but shes been consistent this year so i’ll let it slide
Anex (Almost Home) broke her maiden! yay! We tried some different equipment, she liked it so hopefully she will keep it up.
Outer Bounds (Omaha) ran a disappointing 6th. I know he can do better, though this race may have just been a few furlongs too short for him
Starting Point (what’s Your Point) ran a really disappointing 11th… No Idea what happened, he ran 3rd in a stakes with the same length/conditions a few weeks ago… May be time for a bit of a break
We also claimed Lake Highlands mainly due to his fantastic sire, Highland Bandit. Plus he’s a really cute dark grey . He ran 2nd in his $20,000 claimer and I look forward to seeing what else he can do!
Late to the party (poofed off to Disneyland for the last three days) but came home to find that my barn’s starting to do pretty darn well (must be that Excel spreadsheet, which I need to update). We had five out and three came home winners.
[color=red]A Dreamy Sonata broke her maiden in a 9.5 turf allowance for 3yo+ F/M. Finally placed her where she was needed and am very happy with the results. Now to see if she can duplicate her form…
[color=red]Farewell to Arms, my well-bred but baffling 3YO, finally got the running thing figured out and came home first in a 9.5f dirt allowance for 3YOs. Looks like a shadow roll/no whip combination is the trick for her. Now I just need her to run to her pedigree and we’ll be all set,
[color=red]Fleet Hope came back from a 2-month vacation at the farm to win a 10.5f dirt allowance in style. No sign of rust on her; this is her fastest 10.5 furlongs yet. Hoping she becomes a stakes winner this year.
[color=red]Rainy Day Morning ran in the same race as Hope but threw in a clunker and finished last. Will have to regroup and see if it’s just her first race back or if we need to do something different. A jump trial is in her future.
[color=blue]Thunderdome ran third in an 8.5f dirt allowance. Really hoping to find a sprint for him because I think that’s his niche. Little guy stands at just 14.3 hands so he has to work twice as hard as the others to get to the finish line.
