2yo's for 2019...

Last year I started this topic in October, so maybe it’s time for it now…
Of my last year’s picks, I keep two. And I retired one.

I keep Vera Cruz (NCh. Conflagration x Ch. Sailor’s Girl by Seabiscuit) who won a maiden today, and Lointaine (Octagonal x GCh. Little Lass by Crimson Lad) who’s currently on a free lease to Stone Hollow Stable and runs well for them.

This year, I have five picks:

Beautiful grey Lile (NCh. Bellagio x Ch. Love Signal by GCh. High On Love). Both parents are grade 1 level on dirt and stayers. She’s bred by Clicker Lab and we raced her dam, who was one of the first horses that earned a Champion title at our barn and also competed at stakes level. “Lile” is a grey cormorant that lives in Chile.

Already 17.2h tall, bay El Padrino (FFCh. Foolhardy x Easy Union) is a full brother of Ch. Easy to Fool, a multiple stakes winner, their dam’s first foal. I bought the dam with no ranking and she’s now gold. She ran at allowance level herself. “El Padrino” is “a godfather”, “capo di tutti capi”, a mafia overboss.

Ni Quito Ni Pongo (WCh. Express Yourself x Quiet Silhouette) is a bay filly bred by Black Storm West. Her sire is gold ranked and her dam is silver. The name is a well-known quote in Spain "Ni quito ni pongo rey, pero ayudo a mi se

I always like these threads. Our best performing 2yo from last year’s thread is Prohibition who’s won two stakes this year . Most of our others were only lightly raced in the end - hopefully we’ll see more of them as 3yos.

Next year we’re looking forward to:

Branwen (Sleipnir x Crowd Teaser). Homebred. March baby. Half sister to NCh King of Gondor and Ch My Toni’s Pride.

Campaign Trail (Candidate x Black Run). Homebred, February baby. Half to SW Red Run.

Corsiero (Brigade x Stay Forever). Homebred, February baby. From his sire’s first crop. Half to 2yo SP Forever A Warrior.

Flame Imperishable (Gotta Go x Secret Flame). Homebred, March baby. Half to MSW I’m Your Demon.

Melody Maker (All Jazzed Up x I. B. Ready). February baby. Half to MSW Inner Peace. From the family of retired studs What’s Your Point and Witness.

Pieces of Eight (Dixie Time x Spectacular Silver). February baby. Half to GCh Blue Empress. Already stands at 16.1h.

Reign of Terror (Nightfight x Mayhem). Homebred, May baby. First foal from our MSW starter mare.

Royal Mint (What’s Debatable x British Pounds). Homebred, February baby. First foal for SP dam.

Sigil (High Chances x GCh Salem). Homebred, March  baby. Oldest sibling, 2yo WitchfinderGeneral, is MP from three starts this year.

Smaug (Highland Magic x Question Authority) June baby. Half-sister to ICh Quarren. Likely to be more of a 3yo.

Smoke Rings (Blue Smoke x Lilys and Roses). Half to SP Rose In The Dark. From his sire’s first crop.

Somekindawonderful (Nightfight x GCh Unbridled Frolic). Homebred, May foal. First foal for her MSW dam.

I am excited about Galaxy’s Zodiac first crop running, as well as:

Benedryl - (I’m No Angel X Cough Syrup) Only living foal out of Cough Syrup, who is 1/2 to MSW Soupy, MSW Black Cherry, and SW Scarlet Fever - 3/4 to Soupy

Itty Bitty Pretty (Candidate X Hot Brown) First foal of MSW dam

Dream Big (High on Love X Gone North - Northern Slew out of Dream Skipper) - 3/4 to Galaxy’s Zodiac

Kilamanjaro (Dark Continent X Coco Diablo) - 1/2 to Devil’s Flight and Golden Idol

Manatee (I’m No Fool X Isobella’s Sea) First foal of MSW dam

Myst - (Gotta Go X Ghost) - half to MSP Doppelganger, 3/4 to NCH Go Go Dancer

Zelly - (High on Love X Privilage) - half to KY Derby winner Funky Music

From last year’s picks, our standouts are:

MSW - Clowning Around
Stakes winner - Don’t Pass Go
Stakes placed - Break Free and Ring of Death

Next year, we’re looking forward to…well, everyone, but especially these guys:
BANNER (Mantle of Power x Gilded Sky) - half-brother to MSWs Hidden Destiny and Al Mundhir

CE’NEDRA (Nightfight x NCh. Crimson Princess) - half-sister to MSWs Crowned, Majestic, Catchafallingstar, and Sable Princess

CREIDEAMH (Slew O’Scots x Faith Hill) - final foal from this platinum mare

JUVENAL (Express Yourself x Black Swan) - half-brother to MSWs Strike It Rich, Endless Flight, Knight Errant, Dark Laird, and Swan Song

PITY THE FOOL (FFCh. I’m No Fool x FFCh. Can’t Catch Me) - 3/4-brother to MSW Can’t Fool Me and half-brother to SP Hide and Seek

SINGLE MALT (Slew O’Scots x GCh. Delightfully Black) - first foal from this MSW mare

TAKEN BY STORM (Take Me Away x Ch. Chase The Wind) - first live foal we have from this mare, plus half-brother to MSWs Be Cool and Superbia

TEXAS GUINAN (Spock x Fleeting Dreams) - half-sister to SWs Black Cigar, A.P. Dreams, and Ephemeral

Out of the six we picked last year, only one has broken their maiden. I’m hoping they’ll get better with age!

French Ruby’s first crop (all 10 of them) will debut next year, so I’m excited for that. I don’t own any kids from that group, but I’ll be keeping an eye on them. From this year’s crop I’m especially excited for:

Amaranthe (NCh. Golden Text [ S ] x Lady Amelie, by Secretariat) - dam is half to Government Secret, Ladylove (G), and Lady Barton (G).
Best Choice (ICh. Candidate [G] x Ch. I’m Yours Joe [ S ]) - half to I’m Your Angel and bred on the same What’s It Worth line.
Johann Bach (WCh. Gotta Go [ S ] x Given Melody [ S ], by Point Given [ S ]) - half to SW Ch. Act Accordingly
Juniper Tree (NCh. Joyeux Oiseau x GCh. June My Love) - first foal out of MSW June My Love, who was one of the first horses I ever acquired in FF (for 5k!). Joy’s foals haven’t wowed, but I’m still excited for June’s first girl.
Rosette (ICh. What’s Your Point [G] x Midnight Return, by Ch. Magic Cross [ S ]) - by now-retired What’s Your Point, Rosette is the first foal out of Midnight Return, a SP half-sister to MSW GCh. Jack O’Lantern, and 3 other stakes winners/champions.

Of the 3 I picked last year all have done well.
Matelot (Highland Laird x Smooth Sailing) has only run in 4 races but is 100% OTB.
White Tie Affair  (Formal Occasion x While we’re Waiting) has  been OTB in 5/7 races  including stakes placed and will probably run in one of the BS races if he remains qualified.
Fool On The Hill (Foolhardy x Mary Hill) is now a Champion and  OTB in 8 of 9 starts and will also run in one of the BS races all being well.

So this year I will pick just my top 3 again.
My first is Harlequin (Foolhardy x While we’re Waiting) already 17.0hh so will hopefully be another early starter for us. This is the one I am most excited about. WwW has been a stellar addition to my broodmare band with all her foals so far being either SW or SP. She is a CW horse so many thanks Shanthi!
Second is Raindale Raven (Nightfight x Sailor Venus) all Venus’s foals have been winners and 3 are MSW. Hopefully this filly will continue the tradition.
Finally I have high hopes of Wild Night (Nightfight x Wild Highland) All Wild Highlands foals are winners and many are SP, SW and one MSW. Wild Night is well grown and should be ready to race in the early part of the year.

I thought I posted in the thread last year… Guess not! Regardless we have had some awesome 2yos run this year - some were surprised, some where expected. My picks for 2019 are as follows:

High On Sugar - (FFCh. High Chances (G) x Ch. Candyland (S)) - She is 1/2 to 2yo SW Bubblicious and 3yo SP Lieutenant Uhura and her sire is amazing
Keep Dreamin’ - (WCh. I’m Your Angel (G) x Ch. AP. Dreamin’ (G)) - She is already huge at 16.2hh and is 1/2 to MSW GCh. Classic Dreamer
Night Kisses - (WCh. Nightfight (G) x Expressway Kiss (G)) - This gal has great lineage. Her sire needs no introduction and is 1/2 to stud qualified GCh. Turnpike Wannabe, MSW GCh. Sheza Sheila and MSW Ch. Lady Express
Out Of Bounds - (WCh. I’m Your Angel (G) x By Honor Bound (G)) He is the last foal out of my beloved By Honor Bound before she passed - so I have high hopes. He is 1/2 to NCh. Mark My Word (who is now a gold rated brood), GCh. Keep To the Code, GCh. Boundless Train, and MSWs Ch. Secret Society and Ch. Highland Bound
Swift As The Wind[/color – (ICh. What’s Your Point (G) x Ch. Fleet Goddess (G)) - His sire WHat’s Your Point sadly retired at a very young age but had huge success in his foals. He is 1/2 to GCh. Naval Commander

I have alot more 2yos i’m super excited about but tried to narrow it down  ::)

Well, I know I didn’t post last year, but I’ve got a few up-and-coming runners that I’m looking forward to.

Chase The Sun (NCh. Eighteen Karat x Outrun the Wind), a Generous Bloodstock baby, is one I’m really excited about. Her dam is a silver breeder, and she has a lot of prestigious names in her pedigree including What’s It Worth, Mr. Prospector, Highland Rogue, and Man O’War.

Kindling (WCh. I’m Your Angel x Light A Candle), bred by Semiahmoo Stables, is another one. He’s another What’s It Worth descendent.

Sunset Boulevard (FFCh. TakeMeToHollywood x Ch. Wiccan Moon), bred by Diamond Dale Farm, has What’s It Worth and Tiznow in his bloodlines.

Other than that, I have one homebred - He’s Her Knight (WCh. Double Cross x Ch. Fairly Persistent) - and one created filly who will be running for me next year. He’s Her Knight is the half brother of a 2 YO I had race this year, Silvertongue, who didn’t do more than stare at the pretty bobbing tails in the distance, so I really don’t know how Knight will do.

And that’s it for me. Small crew, but hopefully we’ll have some winners in the mix.

The first crop from one of our newer stallions, GCh. Tottenham Hotspur, had a so-so season. He had 7 winners from 17 runners and average earnings of just under $20k. He is currently Bronze rated.

The five horses we listed to watch last year also had so-so seasons. Only 3 of them were winners (one won two races), however, all 5 were multi-placed, including 3SP. Overall, we had 46 wins out of 273 2YO runners, which included 10 SW, of which 4 were G1W.

This year, we have 51 up and coming 2yo’s. Of those, the ones we are looking at most intently are:-
Amazon Mystery, a dark bay filly by NCh. Black Warrior b out of What’s That About b.
Ancient Warrior, a black colt by NCh. Black Warrior b out of Ancient Honour b.
Appleton Gold, a chestnut filly by NCh. Golden Text b out of Back Streets b.
Aurora Borealis, a light bay filly by WCh. What’s Debatable b out of Ch. Crowning Glory b.
Chunky’s Dream, a grey filly by ICh. Magic Glory b out of Ch. Sheza Dreamer b.
Dixie’s Spurs, a dark bay filly by GCh. Tottenham Hotspur b out of Whistlin’ Dixie b.
Hidden Cove, a brown colt by GCh. Tottenham Hotspur b out of Wonderful Dreams b.
Left Behind, a bay colt by GCh. Major’s Flight b out of In Due Time b.
Mae West, a dark grey filly by GCh. Mantle of Power out of Kinda Sassy b.
Olympic Flame, a chestnut filly by NCh. Golden Text b out of Flaming Silk b.
Spurs Away Gamble, a dapple grey colt by GCh. Tottenham Hotspur b out of Risk Away b.
Spurs Win, a dark bay colt by GCh. Tottenham Hotspur b out of Decisive Victory b.

From last year…
Multi-Stakes Winner: Act the Fool
Stakes Winner-Meet Your Maker

A bunch of winners, but we’ve been pretty lax in our racing/training schedule this year due to a lot of life changes (new job, new bf, moving, etc.). Hoping we can do better next year.

Demand the Best’s first crop hits the track, so that should be exciting. Our first home-bred, home-run stallion.

Colts
Algiers (Dark Continent x Dark Miss) 1/2 to NCh. Carrowmore
Aziraphale (I’m No Fool x Go For Glory) 1/2 to ICh Demand the Best, WCh. Toast of the Town, GCh. Thank Goodness
It’s a Long Story (Unabridged x Passin Sandi) 1/2 to CH. Don’t Pass Go
Lord Love a Duck (Long Live the King x Barely Black) because his name is awesome.
Mulligatawny (High Chances x Soupy) first foal out of MSW’ing mare. 3/4s to FFCh. Black Cherry

Fillies
Cayuga (Slew O’ Scots x Blackfoot) 2nd foal to race out of a MSW’ing mare.
Fable Spinner (I’m No Fool x Spinning Hill) 1/2 to NCh. Star Spun
Flirt (Foolhardy x Fleeting Lady) 1st foal out of MSW’ing mare, from the Sunset Beach line.
I Spy (Clockstopper x Assault By Numbers) 1/2 to GCh. Color By Numbers, SW’ing Word Search
In the Long Run (Long Live the King x Final Tour) 1/2 to GCh. Queen of Sheba, Ch. Tickled Pink, Ch. Rahmbunctious, Ch. African Adventure
The Road Not Taken (I’m Your Angel x Forgotten Road) 1st foal of MSW’ing mare

So I don’t keep Vera Cruz anymore, because I just sold her in a claimer  strange, I think it’s much easier to sell a horse in a claimer than in an auction; even though she won her previous race, still I think it would be hard to sell her for $35,000 in an auction… or maybe not?
Anyway, I wish we had more claimers because it’s a great way to race these horses that are not (yet) superstars.

I always look forward to this thread.

From last year, our crop has been doing well despite my inactivity towards the back half of this year.

Multiple Stakes Winners:
Ch. El Cari

This is a very exciting idea. I obviously didn’t have picks from last year and my up and coming 2 yo’s are all bought from other breeders, but I do have  some I’m very excited to have starting under the Four Aces colors.

First one I’m excited to see on the track is Devil In Georgia sired by ICh. Devil His Due (B) and out of GCh. Devilady §.

Second is Express Lane sired by WCh. Express Yourself (G) and out of Disco Lemonade.

Third is Irish Creme sired by NCh. Irish Gold out of Blazin’ Hearts (G).

Fourth is Island Breeze sired by FFCh. Foolhardy § out of Ch. Calypso (G).

Fifth is Night Afire sired by ICh. What’s Your Point (G) out of FFCh. Starz Afire (B).

Sixth is Night Myst sired by WCh. Nightfight (G) out of Into the Myst (S).

Seventh is Pyromancer sired by NCh. Dark Demand (B) out of Cherry Flavoured §.

Last but not at all the least Rock Dove sired by WCh. Gotta Go (G) out of WCh. Metallic Jade.

Hoping April gets here sooner than later.

Oh my gosh guys! There are some stellar 2yo’s competing next year!! It is so awesome to really see the game evolving into this unique entity with our own legendary foundation sires and mares. All the while being able to witness how lines have shaped the horses we have today.
With that being said a lot of the 2yos we were looking forward to this year have really stepped up to the plate while still leaving us with hope for their 3yo year.  Our most notables to date are:

Ch. Don’t Trip (Nightfight X Trippi Flowers) - Top 3 100% in 7 starts including a BC place and stakes win. Over 500K in earnings.
Ch. Lost Wish (As You Wish X Lost Memories) - Multi winner and G1 SW. Over 200k in earnings.
Ch. Lucky Lilly (My Lucky Day X Lit de Lilly (Rogue’s Lilly) ) - MSW , also a BC placer. She’s been 1st 50% of her starts. Nearly 800k in earnings.
Ch. Batman (Nightfight X Flyby) - MSW including a G1 and been top 4 in all but one of his 14 starts.  Nearly 600k in earnings.
Ch. Star Blast (As You Wish X Morning Star) - SW and top 3 100% in 10 starts.  500k in earnings.
Ch. Winning Legacy (Nightfight X Winning Class) - MSW. We have reason to believe he has some maturing to do but has still banked a couple of stake races and places.  He’s just over 100k in earnings.
Spock Jr. (Spock X Gilttogo) - SW. He just earned his SW in the Lucky Cigar Breeders Stakes so we are hoping he’ll keep it up through the triple.  He seems to be getting more consistent which leads us to think there’s more and better to come from him.  He’s earned about 250k so far.

As for our up and comings, here are our hopefuls:

Buckwild (WCh. Nightfight X NCh. Gazelle (What’s It Worth § X Seeing Starz §)) - Just cause…

Dipped In Flowers (WCh. Strike It Rich X NCh. Trippi Flowers) - Yeah, we had to send Trippi all the way to Australia for this match but we think it was worth it.  This not so little girl (17.0, so far) is half to SW 2yo Ch. Don’t Trip.

Educated Fool (FFCh. Foolhardy X WCh. Highland Jet (Highland Rogue § X Jet Set Go (G))) - Drool.

Given A Lilly (Point Given X Lit de Lilly) - I always look forward to foals out of this dam line.

Go For Luck (WCh. Gotta Go X Goddes Of Luck) - 1/2 to 4 MSW. Two of them are National Champions.

Guiding Night (WCh. Nightfight X Lost Memories) - Tall dark and handsome. He’s 17.0h and half to our 2yo SW Ch. Lost Wish among other stakes quality siblings.

Moe Money(WCh. Nightfight X Risky Venture) - 1/2 to 4 MWS.

Nighttogo (WCh. Nightfight X WCh. Gilttogo) - 1/2 to SW Spock Jr. We are also looking forward to his weanling full brother who was strategically named Fighttogo.

Pre-Paid (ICh. Devil His Due X Ch. Hollywood Hopes) 1/2 to 11 winners and 7 SW. Three of which were MSW.

Smoke N’ Sparks (WCh. Nightfight X WCh. Smokin’)  - Full sister to ICh. Fightin’ The Smoke. Dam has 100% winners and over 1M in average foal earnings.

Wind In My Sails (WCh. As You Wish X NCh. Set The Sails) - 1/2 to NCh. Nightwatchman and GCh. Set The Stride. Dam has 100% winners with 1.75M in average foal earnings.

And our wildcard hopeful is :

Solid Gold (NCh. Irish Gold X NCh. I’m A Golden Girl (I’m A Classic)) - She’s the first foal from this dam.  We are not only excited to see how this Irish River X I’m a Classic cross turns out but also the fact that they were both successful racers.  Hope she wins her “weight in gold”. hehe…

I will be leasing all my racers again next season … That includes 2yos

Wow what a grand idea. Bummed I missed it last season but here goes for this season…My goal l is to be more active this season so here goes…

Archangel Raphael (ICh. Worth The Wait (S) x Ch. Ancient Gold (B))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=26027

Her 3yr old just broke her maiden last month and her 2yr placed this season…

Blu Guidata (Blue Ensign (B) x Ch. Tempesta Dell’Alto)

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=26190

This will be here second foal to hit the track and I hope she takes after her sire and dam and ends up Stakes quality.

Downbytheboondocks(Blue Ensign (B) x Downbythebay (S))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=25730

Her 3yr old is stakes placed and her 2year also placed in England this year…
This mare is just a favorite of mine. She jad lots of heart and jsut loved to run…
Hoping her colt follows in her footsteps.

Fall From Fame (GCh. Stagehand (B) x Ch. Go Overboard (S))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=27133

I just love this mare… My dearest wish wish to get one foal to follow in her footsteps…
She’s got 6 of 7 to hot the winners circle but only one in stakes company.
Hopefully this will be the pone to replace her.

Gameday Blackout (NCh. Black Warrior (S) x Touchdown (S))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=25808

I REALLY want his colt to succeed… I owned his sire and coudn’t get him to breeding
status and ended up selling him. I’m very excited about this cross. His dam has produced a stakes winner out of 2 to race so I’m hoping for him to do well on the track for me so I can
eventually stand him here at Delta Ro.

Highland Heather(Point Given (S) x Rogue’s Lilly (G))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=27159

My favorite this season. By one of my favorite game stallions and out of my
favorite mare this filly carries my hopes and dreams…I miss her dam dearly.

Promise Given (Point Given (S) x Ch. Cigar’s Promise (G))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=25870

Again using one of my best mares( she was a MSW and has produced one MSW herself to date)  with one of my favorite stallions.
I just can’t wait for her to hit the track.

Regal Murderess (NCh. Nobly Regal (B) x Ch. Murder She Wrote (B))

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=25744

I had so much fun racing this mare and I’m looking forward to this gal talking her place.

Seattle Storm (GCh. Stagehand (B) x Ch. Tempestad (S))

His dam was a stakes winner and has produced 100 percent winners for me so far and 2 are
running in stakes company( and one won for her, lol)

Smoke ‘n’ Blue (Blue Ensign (B) x Smoke ‘n’ Mirrors (G))

Another filly with a LOT of potential. Her dam has produced winner after winner as well as a couple MSW’s. Here’s hoping she’s number 3.

Wait for the Myst (ICh. Worth The Wait (S) x Lonesome Myst)

finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=27141

I’m really looking forard to seeing how this boy does on  the tack. His dam only has a
couple to hit the track and I’m watching to see how they all do. I’m really hoping
Lonesome Myst will replace Silver Myst in he shed for me.

Anybody else who doesn’t sell will run under my colors this season but these are the ones I’m hoping to race and then keep for my breeding program.

Good luck all in the coming season…

Didn’t do this last year so here is my list for next year

Cinco de Mayo, filly (Long Live The King x Ozma) - probably won’t run till July time but could be very useful
Devil It Is, colt (Devil His Due x While I’m Lucky) - I expect he will be ready to start early and should have plenty of speed
High There, filly (High Chances x Anywhere But Here) - she will start July/August but looks great and shouldn’t be short of ability
Never So Bold, colt  (Boldness Shows x Kerowyn) - should be ready to go early
Power Of Love, filly (Mantle Of Power x With All My Love) - I really like this filly, probably be best at about 7/8f

Of the 12 yearlings from last year, only two made some noise on the track, and by noise I mean at least they won more than once, lol  But one of them is multiple stakes-placed, which I hope bodes well for my matchmaking skills.

This year’s group features the first crop of my stud Eighteen Karat, so I’m doubly excited - except that he wasn’t much of a 2YO and only got going at 3. Hmmmm…

Shine Brighter (Eighteen Karat-Light Up Your Life, by Cigar) - I’m so high on this one; he’s got such a nice pedigree. Half-sister hasn’t shown much but she’s only 2 so I’m giving her some leeway.

Ore (Eighteen Karat-Not A Prospector, by Mr. Prospector) - him I’m keeping an eye on because I got a weanling filly bred on the same cross out of a much better racemare; he’s inbred to Mr. Prospector, which should be interesting, and his dam was a nice runner, too.

This Is War (Call To War-Fairy Wish, by Highland Wizard) - got a stillborn from this cross the first time, which was disappointing, but this boy is alive and well. The damline has done very well with Man O’War studs so I’m hoping for good things from him.

Uprising (Eighteen Karat-Lady Ironsides, by Man O’War) - mare was one of my earliest purchases and she became a graded stakes winner and stakes placed at 4, which probably means this one might be blooming late. Sigh.

Live Laugh Love (High On Love-Art Of Life, by Secretariat) - from High On Love’s last crop. She’s got a very solid pedigree.

Oath (Ring of Fire-What’s Honor, by What’s Debatable) - a lovely filly with winning half siblings. I’m still holding out hope that What’s Honor can get some solid stakes winners.
