Who will be standing first year stallions for the 2021 breeding season? I’m starting to look ahead and get a list of possible options together for all my broodmares.
Oooh yay I seem to have more turf mares than dirt mares so I will probably send one or two to him.
Yay, looking forward to having a GC son at stud.
Definitely will have a girl or two for Sionnach depending on stud fee.
He’ll be no more than $7500, possibly lower as he’s unproven in the shed
We have three colts who are newly qualified. Because of the number of Stallions we currently have, we may let them race another year or may just decide to sell them.
[color=blue]GCh. Ancient Magic, 4yo black colt by [color=blue]Ch. Magic Glory (G) out of [color=red]Ancient Honour § - Turf specialist who had 6 G1W, including the 2019 Irish Triple Crown.
[color=blue]NCh. Gang of Thieves, 5yo dapple grey horse by [color=blue]GCh. Cool Thief (G) out of [color=red]Match Me Up (G) - Turf specialist who had 4 G1W, including the 2018 Irish St. Leger and the 2019 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
[color=blue]NCh. LiveLong&Prosper, 5yo flea-bitten grey horse by [color=blue]ICh. Spock (S) out of [color=red]Inalillybit (G) - Dirt specialist.
At the moment, our thoughts are to retire [color=blue]Ancient Magic and keep the other two in training for another year.
Currently, I plan to retire 3 new boys next year, assuming they don’t miraculously perk up before the end of the year:
NCh. Allinvain (Worth My While x Alwuhush, by Alydar)
NCh. Bear Witness (Witness x Dreamweaver, by Highland Pride)
GCh. Zadar (What’s Your Point x Adriatic Swan, created)
We also have one more who is qualified and a couple more who are close, so more may be added as the year progresses, but right now those are the only ones we’re (mostly) certain about.
I already have 5 mares for him!
Any updates to the list at all? Trying to start planning where our girls will go next season.
I’m trying to cut back on broodmares while simultaneously going, “I need a mare for this stallion!” Very excited about some of the new faces heading to the shed.
Lol, I need somebody to come to my barn and plan out my match-ups for me. Can’t decide who to send where, but thrilled for new prospects!
