2021 Retired Stallions

2021 was an amazingly rough year for stallions, especially in the final few months. I just wanted to take a quick look at the stallions we lost (via retirement); some people may not even have realized it! RL stallions excluded, as they were purposefully retired for new RL stallions to take their place.

GCh. Steal Your Heart (WCh. Secret of Love x Second Chance - Create)

Gimme Love and Love Vigilante. Half to stallions WCh. As You Wish (sire) and FFCh. High Chances (dam); half to the dam of WCh. I’m Your Angel. He does not yet have an heir.

ICh. Long Live the King (Bold Ruler x Infinity - Create)
Silver. Also expecting a full final crop of 30 this year. Sire of 99 winners including 24 SW’s, 10 MSW’s and 4 millionaires. His millionaires include NCh. Repudiate, GCh. Royal Fanfare, Ch. True Royalty, and Ch. Emperor. Via his sire he is half to stallion WCh. King David. He does not yet have an heir.

GCh. Ace of Hearts (ICh. Highland Magic x Blazin’ Hearts - Brazen Remark).
Unranked; only produced 5 crops with his oldest foals having just turned three this year. His final crop is expected to just be 5 foals. Sire of 23 winners including 2 SW’s in Ch. Tin Cup Chalice and Ch. Witty Cream. Half to stallions ICh. Spock and NCh. Hogsmeade through their sire; the only male descendent of Brazen Remark to stand at stud. He does not yet have an heir (it’s early, yet!).

ICh. Sixth Day (Planet Hollywood x GCh. Carbon Copy - Cross Roads)
Bronze. His final crop is only three strong. Sire of 52 winners including 13 SW’s, 5 MSW’s and 1 millionaire. His MSW’s are Ch. Gabriela, Ch. Schiaparelli, Ch. Alfie, Ch. Generous Patron, and Ch. Twizzle Stix. He was the last Planet Hollywood at stud – half to retired NCh. Void and deceased Ch. Rumor Has It. He does not yet have an heir.

WCh. Drum Major (GCh. High On Love x Rapunzel)
Unranked; another whose oldest crop just turned three. Sire of 29 winners including 1 SW/MSW in Ch. Drums Please. His final crop will be just 15 horses. Half to stallion GCh. Galaxy’s Zodiac (via sire). No heir yet, but still early.

Bummer. You’re right - I had no idea we were losing so many! Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like we haven’t gained nearly so many new studs this year by comparison.

I think Lewis could replace this many from his barn. The rest of us, on the other hand…

Nice to see the full write-up, I remember losing most of these studs but seeing them all in a group is a fresh reminder. Hopefully these boys can all have their lineage continued eventually.

I hadn’t realised there were so many either. Sorry to loose Doodles, I have a couple of nice foals of his.

And there are so many International and World Champions among them! I noticed that while we do have quite a lot of stallions in the game, so many of them are “only” National or Grand Champions. I did a quick search and this is how many stallions with each title are active now:

Final Furlong Champion (2), World Champion (6), International Champion (21), National Champion (54), Grand Champion (13), Champion (1)

That’s most likely because you used to need 10 SW to qualify for studship.

I probably could have raced my colts for another year too, after they qualified… even if only at allowance level. Will try to do that next time, if it ever happens

I’m never complaining about 7 SW’s again.

The fields were less competitive then, since there were fewer races/horses. But yeah, it was definitely still tough.

Especially sorry to see LLTK go. Going to have to rethink some breedings for a couple of my girls now :frowning:
