This was my worst year regarding OTB percentage (45%) and earnings (12%), but my horses ran more than in all previous years (surprisingly, as I had less time for planning their schedules). I avoided stakes races almost entirely, but horses that were leased to Starfish were successful at stakes level.
The highlights were stud qualified [color=blue]NCh. Space Chips and stakes winner [color=red]NCh. Winter Queen. Also future broodmares [color=red]Ch. A Sweet Melody (Octagonal x Ch. Political Affairs), [color=red]Ch. Lointaine (Octagonal x GCh. Little Lass), [color=red]Ch. Razamatazz (ICh. V is for Victory x GCh. Set For Luck) and 2yo [color=red]Ch. Puede Que Haya (Monarchos x Kill A Mockingbird).
Taking a brief break from updating everyone’s training schedules and shipping the more mature 2yo’s to the track to just say ‘ugh’ in regards to last year. Our OTB percentage didn’t move - it’s been at 55% for the last 3 years straight, but the rest of the numbers are just blah. We didn’t have nearly as many good stakes performers as in past years and overall earnings sank to the lowest mark since 2016. Here’s hoping 2021 is better for everyone!
Worst year in a while for OTB (58%) although a little bit of a late flourish saw our earnings sneak past 2019’s, so not too bad. Generally, we did far better in allowance level races although there’s a few ponies who we’re hopeful can be competitive in stakes this year. Hoping there’s another Quarren waiting in the wings somewhere!
Stripping down the number of horses I ran helped make 2020 the best year in a lot of ways. Best win % (16%), second best OTB finishes (47%) and third best total earnings. Only ran 290 races so 45 win aren’t bad. Actually had a few stakes winners, too, so that was cool.
I’ll probably lease a bunch of horses again and run just a select few. Wish I can make myself actually sell them off lol
Well this year (2020) was an improvement on last year - if it had been any worse I would have quit TBH. this year was 39% OTB last year 36% and 16% wins as against 8%. Almost no stakes level runners and only 12/108 open allowance standard.
Still I enjoyed CW this year and I have ended the year with more money than I started with so not complaining. . Would like some stakes winners for 2021 though!
Best year yet! Good enough to be nominated for Stable of the Year (first owner/horse Eclipse Award nomination ever).
This year my runners won $9,854,600, one million more than last year. Win percentage dropped to 18% this year but OTB rose to 53%. Most stunning was last year my horses ran in 682 races and this year we ran 1,167! We acquired NCh. French Ruby for stud, and enjoyed stakes wins from homebreds Ch. Carry the Day, Ch. Cherries Jubiliee, and Ch. Get the Axe. Our best runner was easily Ch. Sea Salt, a winner of 5 of her 9 starts including 3 stakes.
This was the most active CW team I’ve been a part of, and that made things very fun.
Fingers crossed for an even better year in 2021! And for more homebreds to pick up the slack.
Best year ever with 520 wins from 1649 starts(32%) over $34M in prize money 64% on the board
Stable stars, All That Appeal,Calloway,Colour Run,Debate With Me,Marian,Never Let Go,Stealing Hollywood and Strike It Lucky all won plenty of money in stakes races
Looking forward to 2021
