2020 How'd You Do?

This was exciting! Are we going to have the auction record for unraced 2yo?
As for me… I have never spent so much in this auction, but I’ve never seen so many excellent horses either! Bought three broodmares and a 2yo filly. All bred and raced by Cirque Du Soleil Stables.

[color=red]NCh. Enyo - 15.3h black mare by WCh. Nightfight, out of Goddess of Luck. I didn’t even put her on my list before the auction, thinking she’ll be too expensive; but I tried after losing the bid on To Die For. Enyo is a Mult. Stakes Winner, Mult. Stakes Placed, Multi-Millionaire, 1/2 sister to Ch. Change of Luck, Ch. Fleet Goddess, GCh. Indy’s Pizzazz, NCh. Lord of Luck, Ch. Talos. Born in 2013, she’s one of my youngest broodmares; had only one foal.
Price: $250,000.

[color=red]Ch. Opulent - 15.1h chestnut mare by Ch. Irish River, out of Golden Princess. She is the twin sister of NCh. Irish Gold, and they are 1/2 siblings to Ch. A Separate Peace, Ch. Daily Special, Ch. Nightlight, Ch. Northern Gold, Ch. Scrooge. Opulent is a Mult. Stakes Winner, Mult. Stakes Placed, Millionaire, silver ranked dam of MSW Ch. Foolbetty. She is in foal to NCh. Player, and the baby will have a similar pedigree to that of my MSW filly Ch. Hot Money.
Price: $100,000.

[color=red]Ch. Summer Romance - 17.0h blood bay mare by WCh. Secret of Love, out of Summer Lovin’. She is silver ranked as both her racing foals are stakes winners and champions (both fillies). Summer Romance is 1/2 sister to Ch. Sparkle, Ch. Summer Rose, and she’s 2x3 inbred to Secretariat. In foal to WCh. Sponsored.
Price: $100,000.

[color=red]Crazy Love - 15.3h bay 2yo filly by NCh. Daredevil Dan, out of Love Secret (WCh. Secret of Love). 1/2 sister to Ch. Commitments, Ch. SecretOfTheNight. She’ll soon start some training.
Price: $75,000.

I ended up with four off my original list of six.  Can’t compete financially with the lead bidders on Black Text or Sponsored.  Ah, well.  Still came away with some nice ponies.

[color=red]WCh. Glittogo (15h, chestnut, create) was a versatile, talented runner and is proving herself to be a value in the breeding barn as well, with 3 winners (2 stakes) from 3 racers.  She has 16 stakes wins and 2 Eclipse Awards to her credit, and comes in foal to Sponsored.  She was my priciest conquest at $750,000.

[color=red]NCh. Winning Secret (17h, chestnut, Secretariat x Winning Class) was a dirt specialist with a BC win under her belt.  I need more dirt kids in my turf-heavy barn, and I wanted a Secretariat baby, so she came home for a price tag of $285,500.  Unproven in the breeding shed so far.

[color=red]GCh. Gingham (16h, grey, create) seems like she was a steal (hopefully).  Both of her racing-age foals are owned by FF and one is stakes-placed, so if we’re lucky that’s a sign of what she can do.  Another BC winner, and versatile on both surfaces, she cost us $75,000.

[color=blue]Dirt Road Anthem (15.3h, dark bay, Express Yourself x Little Bit Country) was the purchase I was most hesitant over.  I’m growing to hate colts…mostly because I can’t seem to get them to win more than 3-4 stakes in a career, but this guy looks promising.  Hopefully he’ll at least earn back his $75,000 price tag.

I may go back for one more mare, but for now, the bank account gets a little time to recover.

To Die For was my one and only target. Unfortunately he just got too rich for my blood! Backup choices also went rich, but I’m very happy with the three I picked up.

[color=red]Ch. While I Skip - 7yo 15.1hh bay mare (GCh. Worth My While x Street Skipper, by Cross Roads). MSW of almost 890k including a G1 win and several G1 placings. Just a weanling on the ground and not in foal. Half to two SW’s, dam is half to NCH. Queen, GCh. Galaxy’s Zodiac, and Ch. Moonopoly. Bought for 150k.

[color=red]Magic Hour - 3yo 17hh bay filly (ICh. Magic Glory x Magic After Dark, by Almost Home). Won her only start at 2 and unraced this year. Her two raced siblings are both champions and SW’s. Dam is half to GCh. Must Be Magic. Bought for 100k.

[color=red]Gwendor - 2yo 15.2hh bay filly (Invasor x Ch. Video Starlet, by Secretariat). Unraced. Only raced sibling is a winner. Dam is a MSW. Bit of a gamble, but I haven’t had a bad Invasor foal. Cheapest purchase at 50k.

Well I wasn’t planning on getting any and ended up taking a bunch of broodmares home  ::)

[color=red]GCh. Flyby 2009 Broodmare (What It’s Worth § x Fire Flyer (S)) - Silver (11.7) rated mare producing MSW Ch. Batman and currently in foal to Sunday Paper. Purchase Price $250k

[color=red]GCh. Definitely Bold 2011 Broodmare (WCh King David (B) x Ch. Bold Lady (S) [Bold Ruler (S)) - Fantastic runner earning 1.3 million. She also has some bloodlines that I dont have alot of in my barn. Currently not in foal. Purchase Price $250k

[color=red]Luck Addict 2yo Filly (Point Given (S) x Goddess of Luck (G)) - Unraced 2yo but I love her dam. She is 1/2 to GCh. Indy’s Pizazz, NCh. Lord of Luck, Ch Fleet Goddess (who I own who is also a gold rated mare), and NCh. Enyo. Got her for a steal at $150k

I was a bit late to the party and most of the ponies I’d originally put on the wish list were already well over budget. However, managed to pick up 5 really nice ladies, all for their reserves so pretty pleased overall.

I’d glanced over [color=red]WCh Highland Jet when compiling the wish list as I thought she’d be well over budget. She’s a 14yo daughter of Highland Rogue out of Gold ranked Jet Set Go. On the track she was MSW, MSP, multi-millionaire and holds four speed records on turf. She’s silver ranked as a brood with her best foal to date being MSW Bombadier. She’s in foal to Sponsored for 2021. Cost $150,000.

[color=red]NCh Get The Point is a 15yo brood by Point Given, who was MSW, MSP on dirt. She’s already produces two stakes winners and is in foal to Prince of Wonder for 2021. Cost $150,000.

The third, and final, broodmare is [color=red]GCh Engaging. She’s a 12yo created mare who excelled on the dirt as a 2yo. In foal to Sponsored for 2021, her three foals to race are all winners. Cost $75,000.

[color=red]Dipped in Flowers is a lightly raced 3yo by Strike It Rich out of NCh Trippi Flowers. She won both starts at 2, unraced this year. Cost $100,000.

The final purchase was yearling filly [color=red]Hopestein from the first crop of Von Lichtenstein out of Ch Hopes Fight (Nightfight). Her dam was SW, MSP on the track and is half to 8 other stakes level performers. This filly is her 2nd foal (2yo currently unraced). Cost $100,000.

Picky racing throughout this year got me enough funds for one nice buy in a Select Auction so went and picked up a nice broodmare for Karat.

[color=red]Hard Times is a 15YO mare by Mr. Prospector-Risky Venture. Raced for three years and was her best as a middle-distance steeplechaser. She’s had eight living foals, six racers and six winners, two stakes winners, and one multiple-stakes winning millionaire in Texas Chili. She’s currently in foal to Mantle of Power. Bought her for a cool $75,000.

Went back for one more.

[color=blue]Ace - 3yo 15.1hh chestnut colt (Point Given x Jettison, by Bright Fires). Placed 2nd and 3rd in only starts at 2, unraced this year. Half to MSW GCh. Doin’ Some Zoomin’, SW Jettability and What’s My Worth, and SP’s Ch. Debatable Issue, Ch. Jett Black, and Jett Street. Dam is half to WCh. Highland Jet and Jet Set Jenny (dam of NCh. Run Jenny Run and GCh. Jetplane). Bought for 75k.

FYI, I’ve updated the horse limit to 10 horses for the last day of the auction.

Ohhhhh… Thanks you so VERY much…

 I’m just glad I could do it from a different page than the auction catalogue, so I can pretend there’s nothing else I’d like to buy…

Grabbed one more a few days ago. Thankfully the 6th horse I liked immediately went over budget when the limit increased! Haha.

[color=red]Ch. Rahy’s Star - 8yo 16hh gray broodmare (Rahy x Morning Star). MSW of almost 300k. Silver-ranked, dam of MSW Ch. My Star and an unraced 2yo. Half to MSW’s GCh. Johnny Rio, Ch. Black Star, and Ch. Star Blast and 3 other SW’s. One half-sib has produced a SP or SW in all 4 of her raced foals. Comes in foal to Doodles. 100k.
