Two black boys today.
[color=blue]Zhonghu - 8.1h black colt by Frankel, out of Ch. The Nightingale. His dam has four colts so far, two are racehorses but unraced. She has four speed records and was stakes level from age 3 to 6. The zhonghu is a low-pitched Chinese bowed string instrument.
Ch. The Nightingale will be bred to FFCh. I’m No Fool.
[color=blue]Ziggurat - 9.1h black colt by ICh. Can’t Touch This, out of Ch. All Too Divine. Also fourth colt from his dam; one is raced but his career is not impressive. Ziggurat is a temple of the ancient Sumerians, made of terraces connected by ramps and stairs, roughly in the shape of a pyramid.
Ch. All Too Divine will be bred to NCh. Al Mundhir.
Another boy. Only one left to be born this year.
[color=blue]Zooming Through - 8.1h black colt by ICh. Ring of Fire, out of Pinoit. His dam isn’t a champion but she is a millionaire, having won Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup SC Distaff Endurance. We also have her older Bellagio colt, a yearling, also black.
Pinoit will be bred to NCh. Al Mundhir.
Congrats on the ROF colt, he looks nice!
So the last foal of the year is also the most overdue! Unfortunately, the mare missed her booking to Von Lichtenstein; maybe next year. For some reason I had more foals than the letters in alphabet, and there are already three weanlings starting with Z, so I decided to name this one with Y. I think next year I’ll name them alphabetically too! It’s great to see them so nicely arranged on the list now.
[color=red]Y’all - 8.1h black filly by NCh. Changeling, out of Ch. Mauiluv (Black Gold). She’s her dam’s second foal and another black filly. She’s our first foal by Changeling, but we also have a weanling by his half brother, ICh. Candidate. Mauiluv is stakes placed and she scored a speed record on dirt.
Ch. Mauiluv will be bred to Invasor; he’s now silver ranked and one of his stakes winners is Ch. Sin Pecado who was born at Clicker Lab and we still have two of his half siblings.
Lovely filly. I like the alphabetical theme, too, though I don’t think I’d have the discipline to do it myself - too tough to tie in to the parents.
Thanks! Anyway, [color=blue]Oh Hay is my favourite of this year’s crop, regarding names… at least of my own foals.
By the way, this made me think that there could be a birth date displayed on the list, and for example we could sort the weanlings, yearlings and 2yo’s by date of birth. That would be very handy
