Breeding Foaling Barn

Started off the year with three brand new baby girls, but only two made it.

Lady Bird foaled about 10 days early and we lost the filly by One Lucky Soul. It was her first foal.

[color=red]American Shine is Thelma Pickle’s 3rd foal. She’s by Celtic Star. Thelma may sit this year out or go up for sale, we have yet to decide.

We haven’t decided if [color=red]Nefelibata’s name will stay (it means cloud walker, and I might just change it to cloud walker, we shall see.) She’s jet black with no markings, sired by Void and the first foal out of Blue Nile (Worth my While x Blue Light) and we’re excited to see her grow. I haven’t decided which stallion BN will be visiting next, possibly a new retiree.

Our first colt made his appearance today. [color=blue]Theoretical appears healthy and we are looking forward to his future. He is by Oscillation and out of out SP mare The Story Remains.

Busy January!

[color=blue]Sound Off came into the word early this morning. He’s sired by Demand the Best and out of Symbolic Sound.

Lost another one. Our G1 SP Mare OutlawsPaintedLady lost her first foal, a colt by Major’s Flight. Darn.

[color=red]Argentina Moon is a grey filly by Unabridged and out of Double Bubble. She arrived on the 5th.

[color=red]Black Pearl also arrived on the 5th and I think she may be the biggest of all the of the foals so far. She’s by Almost Precious and out of Under Dee See.

All Starfish Stallions have a No Foal No Fee guarantee so let me know what you want to do about the mare? If you want to send her back to Major’s Flight or another Starfish Stallion, or, if you want to send any other mare to any Starfish Stallion, let me know and I’ll set up the breeding and waive the Fee (even if there is a difference).

I suppose there are good years and bad years. Last year we had no stillborns, this year they keep coming. 'Tis life.

We lost a little filly by Hidden Destiny and out of Three Times A Lady. It was her first foal.

On a better note Sleepy Hollow (Twin Oaks) delivered a healthy filly by Silver Wizard. She’s massive (9.1h) and jet black with no markings. We’ve named her [color=red]Mischief Managed.

We have many new tiny noses in the barn to report. Six in fact!

January 8th brought [color=blue]Two Steppin’ Dixie, a big colt bu Dixie Time.

[color=blue]Looking Glass joined us on January 9th. He is the sun of Hidden Destiny.

The only filly to arrive recently, [color=red]Omen of the Sun, joined us on January 14th and is a little on the wee side. She is sired by Stressed and out of Midnight Radiance (The Black).

[color=blue]Saint Augustine joined us on the 19th and he is by Stressed and out of a Seattle Slew daughter.

This gorgeous grey was last last to arrive in January, the 29th to be exact. He’s been dubbed [color=blue]Oracle of Delphi. I quite like his name. He’s sired by Black Light II and out of AP Heroine.

That brings us to this month’s first arrival, [color=blue]Change Up, a big black colt by Changeling.

College makes FF hard, which is why I am so behind on every single thing. Including breeding. Meh.  ::)

Though we’re behind, we’ll start by taking a moment to celebrate the retirement of Spicy Tour after an unusually hard delivery sadly resulting in a stillborn colt. At 18, this was due to be her last foal anyway, but she was doing well up until she went into early labor. Luckily she is okay and will enjoy the rest of her days getting fat. The colt was by One Lucky Soul and we’re sad that her last foaling is not as happy as we would have hoped.

Back to happy bouncy foals! There are quite a few, and it brings us up to an even split of 11 foals per sex!

Vandaveer ]=http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=28056[color=red]Vandaveer , all legs this one, joined us on February 4 thanks to a healthy deliver by Scarlet O’Hara (Distinct Possibility). She looks almost exactly like sire Galaxy’s Zodiac. She’s already dappling out too!

[color=red]Belle Brigade joined us on February 6th. She is quite a pretty dark bay with bits of white here and there, looking quite a bit like mom GCH. Minister’s Daughter (Deputy Minister). She’s by Stressed and we are excited to see where she goes!

February 6th was a busy day for us! [color=red]Tulip Poplar [Demand the Best x Steel Magnolia by Twin Oaks] joined the growing herd. She should be a fire cracker later in life.

Jet black except for her stripe, [color=red]ShriekingOfSirens made her midnight debut on February 8th. She’s by Changeling and out of Event Horizon (Irish River). I look forward to her future.

February 13th brought [color=blue]Bandito, a colt by Latino Mix and out of Exit Stage Left. Both Bandito  may be for sale this fall, but Exit Stage Left is currently available for sale

March’s first foal, [color=red]Fistfull of Swoon, is a fiery red filly by Dark Demand and out of Poise (Distinct Possibility).

Perhaps our most boisterous foal, King of the World, came to us on March 22nd. He’s bred to be a powerhouse, as he’s by Long Live the King and out of Count the Stars (Count Fleet), so let’s hope he lives up to it.

[color=blue]Parlor Hawk made his way into the world via mom Cahill Understood (Seattle Slew) on March 24. He is by Take Me Away.

On April 6th, Simply Lucky brought [color=blue]Empire, a healthy colt by Lucky Streak, into the world. He’s already a feisty one.
